The school shootings will continue until everyone has bought a gun. And then there will be even more of them.
Why? Because some folks love their guns more than they care about human lives. Three shootings at college campuses have occurred over the last 48 hours.
One shooting occurred at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, where 1 person died and 3 others were wounded in an incident involving members of a fraternity.
[NAU police chief Greg] Fowler said that the altercation started at 1:20 a.m. when “several of our students, two separate student groups got into a confrontation.”
Campus police arrived at the scene and apprehended Jones “without further trouble,” Fowler said.
It is unclear what sparked the shooting, which took place near Mountain View Hall, a dormitory that houses most of the campus’ students involved in Greek organizations.
Today at Texas Southern University in Houston, one person was shot and killed and another wounded. The school is presently on lockdown.
We’re hearing from Houston police that two people may have been shot in the 3500 block of Blodgett Street near Canfield around 11:30am. The shooting happened at the Tierwester Oaks section of the University Courtyard Apartment Complex. The apartment complex is owned by TSU and is on campus property.
University spokesman Kendrick Callis said the campus is on lockdown and classes have been canceled.
The shooter may or may not have been captured by police. Meanwhile hundreds of students fear for their lives.
Police said one person has been detained in the case.
The [TSU] shooting happened about 11:30 a.m. at the Courtyard Apartments at 3445 Blodgett near Tierwester, according to the Houston Police Department.
TSU officials said students who were on campus have been ordered to remain in their classes while staffers have been asked to stay in their offices.
Police said a person called 911 to report that two people were shot. No other information was available. However, the Houston Fire Department sent several medical units to the scene. It appeared from emergency scanner traffic that cardio pulmonary resuscitation was being performed on one person.
Police later said a person died after being wounded in the gunfire.
By the way, this is the second shooting incident at Texas Southern in the last two days. Another person has been identified by police in the on campus shooting of a student in the abdomen on October 7th:
TSU police are seeking a warrant for Darios Tramain Crayton Scott’s arrest. Police believe Scott was enrolled at the university in Spring 2015 and he is originally from the Bay Area in California.
The shooting happened on the “Tiger Walk,” a roadway leading through the campus, near the recreation center.
Police said some type of disturbance occurred around 10:15 p.m. and a 25-year-old was shot in the abdomen.
