Here’s a quick review of my last 36 hours or so.
Knowing that I had not driven my car in a while but would be needing it, and knowing that it has a slow oil leak, I bought some oil. But when I tried to get the hood open, the release wouldn’t work. After a few tries, the apparatus broke completely rendering my car totally useless until I have this repaired.
While doing editing on the last book review for the upcoming issue of the Washington Monthly, the carriage return on my keyboard stopped working. This morning the function returned for a while but then the ‘p’ failed, and then the ‘o’ and then the whole upper-right quadrant. A trip to the Apple Store revealed that it is not worth fixing and I need a whole new machine.
Around noon today I remembered that I had a dentist appointment at one pm. I cleared my busy schedule and hustled over there only to discover that my insurance company thinks my dentist gave me an unnecessary crown and expects me to pay an extra $500+ to the guy who gave me the unnecessary procedure. Then I got to sit there for an hour while he drilled on my teeth.
So, now my face is numb, I’m typing on a cramped little Bluetooth keyboard, I have to come up with money I don’t have to pay my dentist, fix my car, and replace my computer, and I have a deadline to finish my work on the Washington Monthly stuff.
And I thought the flu was bad.
