A lot of people are noting the irony of Jeb touting the endorsement of a man his father once called a “no good son-of-a-bitch.” But it’s not the historical animosity between the Bushes and Doles that makes Bob Dole’s endorsement so pointless. It’s the fact that the Republican base looks at Dole and sees nothing but failure and a past they’re desperate to escape.
