Hello again painting fans.
This week I will be continuing with the painting of the 1940 Plymouth. I am using the photo seen directly below. I’ll be using my usual acrylic paints on an 8×10 inch canvas.
When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo seen directly below.
Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.
There are many changes for this week’s cycle. I’ve actually repainted the entire shaded side of the car. There was a problem with color consistency, especially on the door. The result is both a more consistent color and a color that seems a natural outgrowth of the lit portion. Note the now correctly spaced grille bars as well. Note also the revised front wheel. I’ve also added another layer of paint to the Jeep and my old two tone Mazda Millenia to the rear. Finally, the shadows have been overpainted as well.
The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.
I’ll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.
Earlier paintings in this series can be seen here.
The bar is open.
“Two oat sodas”
I hope that your efforts with your relative are going well.
It’ll take some time, but recovery has been going reasonably well. Took physical rehab seriously and made the most of that so far, which is the main thing. We’re lucky to live in a place that was remodeled specifically for persons with disabilities. At the time that did not seem like a big deal, but at the moment that turns out to matter. I don’t think this particular relative will be running any marathons any time soon, but should get back to normal or near normal function sometime between now and the end of summer. That’s all any of us want or need, really. I’m pretty optimistic it will happen. Still some challenges ahead. And there will also be bills to pay. Not a lot of rejoicing about that but it could be worse, and have experienced worse before. We’ll be singing Obamacare’s praises for a while to come.
Meant to tell you that I saw a 1929 Dodge Saturday. Talked to the owner. He’s restored it to nearly mint condition, all the way to what appears to be the original paint, which must have cost a small fortune. Truly a labor of love. Absolutely beautiful vehicle. They don’t make ’em like that any more.
I hope the folks who used to frequent the old froggy bottom cafe are okay. Indianadem, Alice, Olivia, and a ton of others whose names escape me at the moment – if any of you still lurk, how are you? I miss our occasional conversations. Wherever you are, be well.
ID and Alice are still here. Others show every once in a while. Andi and Jim are over at their 40 Acres More Or Less blog. There are not many of us old timers left. A whole new group for the most part.
Yep, I’m still hangin’ around. I retired a couple of years ago, but kept most of my not-for-profit work, so I’m about as busy as I was when working, just a lot poorer. I’ve noticed dada and Alice recently in comment threads. I’m in touch with Second Nature quite a bit, but on another medium.
I still see Kansas and katiebird on Facebook. Haven’t been to farfetched’s blog in a while.
Good to have an idea of where folks have scattered. Probably not much hope in “getting the band back together again” as it were.
Keeping busy is good, it seems you’re doing something meaningful post-retirement. I’d toyed around with an idea or two – if a nonprofit could get started in my area that would work to combat human trafficking, I’d be on board. Don’t have a lot of capital, but would definitely want to have some involvement there.
If I ever did retire I don’t think I’d know what to do with myself. I barely know how to take vacations properly (I still find ways to work during those). I’m a classic workaholic. Come from a long line of ’em.
