Hello again painting fans.
This week I will be continuing with the Victorian mansion. I am using the photo seen directly below. I’ll be using my usual acrylic paints on an 5×7 inch canvas.
When last seen, the painting appeared as it does directly below.
Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.
I have painted over the entire pencil sketch. Below, I’ve added some temporary green. I’ve continued the blue paint into the sky. All of this is preliminary with many changes to come.
The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.
I’ll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.
Earlier paintings in this series can be seen here.
The cafe is open.
Hopefully a cafe can be revived. I have to remember that it is 2016 and not 2006, and some of the features that gave this place a very personal touch simply no longer exist. Endings and new beginnings, I guess.
Painting looks like it’s coming along nicely. One of my kids is developing an interest in drawing. Anime and Manga are the big inspirations apparently. But yeah, I notice she sketches out and then adds color and texture afterwards. Fun to watch the process unfold.
Thanks. Encourage her to keep at it.
Sadly, only a few of us old timers are around in a regular basis. But I guess it’s good that BooMan gets so many new eyeballs these days.
I do my best to encourage her. All I ever really wanted for the kids was for them to find their place in the world, whatever that might be. This particular kid has a pretty good head on her shoulders – she seems to have some ideas of what she wants out of life and the effort she’ll need to get there.
As for this blog – new sets of eyes never hurt. Hopefully a few will settle in and make it a bit more like home, however that is defined. Glad your painting series has survived. Hope the newcomers can come up with something of a cafe equivalent – not all of us want to talk politics 24/7. Hell, even in my activist days, long before blogs, there was more to life than picket signs, chanting slogans, jumping fences, and phone banks. There was music, art, gatherings with friends, trails to hike, and so on. There is a life beyond the talkshows, the candidates, etc. Let’s never lose sight of that. Don’t turn inward and forget to fight the good fight. By all means fight the good fight. Just don’t lose sight of the need for balance. If I had some unsolicited advice to give to anyone needing it, that would be pretty much it.
And the beat goes on…
