My thoughts are with the French people and the people in Nice.

President Clinton and President Hollande are going to want to go after ISIWhatever. Russia and the sitting Syrian government could complicate things, to say the least.
I don’t mean to be glib, either. This is basically close to the worst thing that could’ve happened if a person is interested in tolerance and coexistence in the world.
Fuck.

I thought Trump announced Pence yesterday?
For a “brilliant” media guy, Trump whiffed the announcement of his VP choice. Hanging out in Indiana for several days (allegedly because his plane required repairs), his kids make a trek there as well, and then leaks that “it’s Pence” but without a formal announcement complete with photo-ops for the media is how a novice would do it. Compare that with the slickness of Obama’s 2008 announcement.
Then with the carnage in Nice last night, Trump announced that he would delay his formal announcement of his VP. As if it was in sympathy with those that died and were injured and more generally the people in Nice and France, but that wasn’t stated in his delay announcement. Couldn’t be more obvious that he has no intention of competing for attention in a news cycle.
The logo is also that of a novice that couldn’t think it all the way through what a gif could look like. Leave it to a male adolescent brain to gif it this quickly.

Fucking awful.
Sad to say, but it could have been worse, if he had gotten the chance to detonate the explosives in the truck.
Awful! Can you imagine going to a 4th of July fireworks show and getting mowed down by a big truck with explosives? These attacks have to take a toll on the psyche of the French people. The tourism industry will suffer more, too. Two World Wars were bad enough–now they live with a different kind of fear and oppression. It is sad for such a freedom loving people. Other European countries are affected, as well.

Nice attack
Every time I read that in a headline my brain does a triple take and shuts down for a second.
Terrible, and worrying, news.
This is the kind of shit that makes people turn to a strongman.
