If you were watching the game, of course you already know that the Cubs managed to win Game 7 of the World Series in the 10th inning. It had been 108 years since the Cubs last managed this particular accomplishment. To put that in perspective, Samuel Clemens was still alive, Al Capone was a kid and not quite yet a notorious gangster, the Ottoman Empire and Austria-Hungary Empire both still existed, and Russia was still governed by a Czar. Of course the game itself has changed a bit over the ensuing decades and I suspect a fan from the early 20th century would barely recognize facets of the game. I know I was second guessing a few of Joe Madden’s pitching changes during this last game, but somehow it all worked out. Cleveland’s team played extremely well, and although I was rooting for the Cubs, I would not have been disappointed had they won instead. If you’re a baseball fan, this was an incredible series to watch.

What a series. It will take a while for this one to sink in.
It was a good series. The best won.
.
My favorite series are the ones where the teams are fairly evenly matched. This one almost made 2016 worth the bother of living through – it was that good. My spouse was rooting for Cleveland. We were both happy to see the Cavs win the NBA championship earlier this year (another good championship series).
Tolstoy was alive.
It was only 5 years after the invention of flight.
Was also the year of the start of manufacturing the Model T. Not that there were many good roads to drive them on. The history surrounding this moment is truly something.
i’m not sure who deserves credit for this, probably not where I found it

I am a big SF Giants fan, but the NLDS allowed me to get to know the Cubs, and I liked what I saw, starting with amazing team chemistry, and good, young, talent at almost every position.
This was a GREAT world series, made even more dramatic by Madden making inexplicable pitching decisions in the deciding game.
Yeah, those pitching decisions during Game 7 were crazy-making. Thankfully, they pulled through. Something tells me we’ll see both of these clubs in post season play for a few years to come. Would not mind seeing a rematch.
