Hello again painting fans.
This week I will be continuing with the Grand Canyon painting. The photo that I’m using is seen directly below. I’ll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 6×6 inch canvas.
When last seen the painting appeared as it does in the photo seen directly below.
Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.
I have painted in the major elements set down in my pencil sketch. Things are rough right now but you can get a sense of where I’m going. Buttes appear in brown, shadow in blue. There is much left to do.
The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.
I’ll have have a new painting to show you next week. See you then.
Earlier paintings in this series can be seen here.
Open it is.
Life is short. This election season is thankfully shorter. This one cost me, and I suspect numerous others quite a few friendships. Then again the true friends seem to have stuck by me, as I have with them. In the scheme of things, maybe that’s all that matters. So it goes.
That and family. I have few friends left at this point and have trouble making new ones. It becomes more difficult as one ages.
I’ve certainly noticed that. Seems we make most of the friends we’re going to have in our 20s. After that those sorts of bonds are difficult to form. Not impossible, as I’ve found, but not easy. Friendships made over the internet tubes are especially tenuous, as so many of those are based on single common interests or issues. Family can be a bit of crapshoot. Got lucky with mine, and that has been critical after the year we’ve all gone through. Wouldn’t know what I would have done without ’em.
Will be curious to see how this comes along. Looks like you are off to a good start.
I spent all day today remodeling my remodel. I’ll spend all day tomorrow, too. Drywallers will be there Monday and I hope to have the wall ready.

I have to share this because Bob Ross is mentioned quite a lot:
Extremely Calming Bob Ross Episodes To Get You Through This Election
There is something to be said for happy trees. There will always be a place in my heart for Bob Ross and his show.
The same impulse for something other than the election led to me posting about the Cubs’ World Series win, and why I figured I’d recommend Frank Schnittger’s summary of a historic rugby match. These all serve as reminders that there is so much more to this life than constantly obsessing with the polls, the attack ads, and all the ugliness that can come with an election season.
