Hello again painting fans.
This week I will be continuing with the Cold Spring, NY street scene. The photo that I’m using is seen directly below. I’ll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 6×6 inch canvas.
When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.
Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.
I started by painting the outlines of the major visual elements in blue. I just had to paint the shadow from the small dormer window on the roof. I’ve also added green to the far rear and some light blue for the sky.
The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.
I’ll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.
Earlier paintings in this series can be seen here.
Pretty much done with holiday shopping. Whew.
Wish I had more of a technical knowledge of the visual arts. All I can say is that it looks like the painting is off to a nice start. Out of curiosity, how long does it typically take you to complete a project, from conceptualization to reaching that point where you can put your initials on a canvas?
Hard to say because I do it in bits and pieces. It probably wouldn’t take much time if I actually had a few clear hours.
Getting a few clear hours can be a bit of a challenge, as I know all too well.
We haven’t even dealt with holiday shopping yet. Too many other things to deal with as it is. My guess is it will be a last minute event for us.
My wife and I solved that issue 25 years ago.
No birthdays, no Christmas, no New Years, no Easter, no anniversaries, etc, etc, etc.
.
Wish we’d thought of that! Could have saved some serious coin! 🙂
I must be an idiot. I have a picture on my desktop I wish to embed into a comment but I can’t make it work. HELP!
You first need to post the picture to one of the many hosting sites creating for that purpose. Then, after it’s posted there, they provide a URL that you then post in your comment. Not unlike embedding a YouTube video.
Here is a tutorial

Nice to see a new work in progress, Boran!
I’m working frantically to finish a commissioned portrait…
