We’ll see what he can do, but right now it looks like the Negotiator in Chief is getting set up to have a bigly sad evening.
Update [2017-3-23 16:33:13 by BooMan]:
WH: "Vote will be in the morning to avoid voting at 3am"
House GOP aide: "We'll have the vote at some point tmrw if the votes are there."

May the gods forgive me, but I want Trump and his administration to blow up in a painful series of explosions, from health care to Russia to Supreme Court appointments, boom, boom, boom, right down the line.
I know it’s not likely, but a girl can dream, right?
Right after the election, I kept saying the same thing to each of my (similarly-terrified) friends: “What I’m hoping for is the biggest, fastest, most conspicuous, most embarrassing, and most harmless of all possible total meltdowns.”
(Meaning, as opposed to the ruthless, efficient Blitzkrieg we all imagined could be forthcoming.)
With each passing week, I feel closer to getting my wish.
remains to be seen.
‘Less harmless’ than could have been conceived the morning of 11/9? OK, maybe I can grant that much.
People/species/ecosystems are still going to die or be devastated, though. It’s baked in the cake at this point.
You left out “indictments”.
Why would the gods need to forgive you? There’s almost nothing that Trump wants to do that’s good.
She’s got nothing for the gods to forgive.
I’m OTOH, want him, his Ivana-spawn, and SIL, to all get herpes zoster in every, every, every sensory ganglion.
I understand it’s basically incurable, and horribly painful. All of them. Bonus points of the entire RNC comes down with it.
. . . what the gods could possibly find to forgive you of.
The whole ACA thing is built on the standard Republican “something for nothing” crap. The GOP has for the last 30 years told us that we can have everything we want and pay lower taxes too. Health care is the biggest place they have tried this on, and it is going to kill their majority if they do not watch out. No one cares if some farmer near Salinas, KS has to drive on a gravel road where he used to have a paved road. But when you can’t get health care, now that is a biggie.
I think you meant the current bill, the AHCA not the ACA, which is ObamaCare, right?
Sorry, I phrased clumsily, and I thank you for your comment.
What I meant is “The whole issue that the Rs have with the ACA is the standard R deal of ‘something for nothing'”. That is, they wish to have the goodies of the ACA without the cost of the ACA:
Why not Medicare for all? That way you have insurance at birth until the day you die.
That’s Socialism!
Funny that!
Is it?
No, it’s just the Common Good. The promotion of which, for any government, is SUPPOSED to be its principal raison d’être.

It’s a sad day when the party of hate and incompetence loses the courage of its convictions! Come on, Repubs, you have a revolution to run!
Here you have a bill that guts Medicaid for those perpetually undeserving poor people, that (maybe) lowers premiums by returning to the glorious days of unregulated insurance products (excluding Cadillac coverage for things like Px drugs, emergencies and baby birthin’) while still preserving some nice juicy welfare subsidies for the “middle class”. Also, too, special favors for particular states and an unspecified basket of goodies (earmarked for elderly Trumpites) to be named later!
Let the Free Market [er, sic] spread its healing balm over one and all from sea to shining sea! America shall be absolved from its Obaman heresies…all is forgiven.
All this goodness convincingly shilled for by lifelong Medicaid hater and health insurance expert-in-chief Pretty Boy Ryan, VSP—with (White) American Hero Der Trumper in (his first) supporting Bully Pulpit role! What the hell is not to like, O Repub patriots?
They will get this passed if they have to keep the vote open 3 days and drag the Hammer Delay back from retirement to bash some quailing Repub skulls in the cloakroom.
Lol. Good comment. And I agree. They will figure it out. No way Trump fails this early or spectacularly
DT just wants to avoid having to start his tweets at 2 am.
I thought that’s when he DID start them!?
If he weren’t a teetotaler, we’d see his tweeting schtick as drunk dialing, haha.
Dry drunk?
The Rs had 7 frickin long years to come up with something, and they were not prepared. They indulged themselves shamelessly like the 2 bit whores they are for 7 years trying to revoke ACA as a sop to their base but never believing that they’d have to actually, you know, do something.
Thing is, ACA is a Republican health care plan. Pile on if you want, but it just is. It was created by the Heritage Foundation. So what were the Rs going to replace it with that was “better”??? They never figured it out.
They also thought Clinton would win and didn’t really like Trump and had yuuuuge mixed emotions about him. So when Trump won, it was the proverbial dog catching the car. Now What??
I have heard and read gossip (so, worthless but still) that the Rs were pretty much in a panic trying to figure this thing out. They weren’t prepared At All but had to pretend that they were. Lousy liars. Trump allegedly told them to start working on it but be prepared to introduce the leg in one year. Oh no. Can’t be sensible, now can we??
So they rushed through this awful travesty – rushing now after wailing for the past 7 years about how the Ds pushed through ACA “too fast” but of course IOKIYAR, naturally – and it’s simply terrible.
Of course the real hard liners HATE it because they simply want nothing. Repeal ACA in toto and let the peons all starve and die is their mantra. So they don’t want this bs.
I will be surprised if they can get this passed ever. It’s just a piece of crap brought to you by endlessly incompetent but constantly victimizing and whining Republicans.
Hope Trump voters are happy now.
You know why the Republicans didn’t come up with a better plan? Because if you start from Obamacare and push move it to the right, it just doesn’t get better. In short, it’s impossible to do what they say they want to do and come up with a plan that isn’t a piece of shit.
There never was and never could be any “better plan” on their terms, because the entire concept was always a fake.
They don’t want there to be comprehensive health care coverage; they object to the very idea.
They represent insurers and pharmaceutical companies and big industry and shaving federal spending to the bone so the money can go to the top earners in the form of tax breaks. The ACA was like holding a cross up to Dracula; it’s their worst nightmare of forcing them to distribute tax dollars to the indigent and unemployed and unprotected. The were against the whole idea from the beginning.
So they have to engage in this fucking charade of “a better idea” (which was always bullshit; a parent refusing to buy the kid a toy and promising “I’ll get you a better toy later,” knowing the kid will forget. (The metaphor fails because the kid doesn’t need a toy; change it to a hungry kid wanting dinner or something, while the parent would rather spend the money on a new tie for himself or something.)
But “We owe it to the American people to repeal the ‘disaster’ of Obamacare” is the most cynical of cons.
I’ve heard some “liberal” NPR host/reporter play a clip of some rightwingnut asshole declaring Obamacare “failed”, “total disaster”, etc., etc., etc., with ZERO pushback to this absurdly, transparently false claim, I could retire in comfort. (I assume this also applies to the rest of the Corporate Media, but for the most part I’m not their consumer.)
ACA clearly wasn’t perfect out of the gate — like all legislation ever. Rightwingnut assholes’ response to this inevitability wasn’t to assist in fixing its inevitable flaws to make it work better for people (including their own constituents!), but rather to refuse utterly to do this, insisting on “repeal” (which it looks increasingly likely they can’t pull off). Every bit of pain or discomfort they experience as a result is thoroughly earned, bring it on, the more the better.
Yeah, Republican’ts. They had the Patriot Act ready for Dubya’s signature in 3 WEEKS, which tells me it was already written before the thought entered anyone’s mind to actually pass it into law.
And they can’t do this? SAD!
Heh.
Heh heh.
Hehehehehehehehehehe…………..
Bwa-hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!
In 2015 from Bloomberg: A poll last August by Moscow researcher Levada Center found that just 19 percent of respondents were satisfied with the state [Russian] medical system.
From WaPo yesterday: “A new Quinnipiac University poll released Thursday shows that the American Health Care Act [CAHCA] … is severely unpopular… According to Quinnipiac, only 17 percent of Americans approve of the bill
Mission accomplished.
