Nailing Trump for obstruction of justice is a lot like nailing Al Capone for tax evasion. The difference is that we didn’t have to rely on Congress to prosecute the case against Al Capone.

I can’t believe Trump managed to obstruct an investigation into a made-up story.
Exactly. Obstruction of justice in something like this is pretty much the same as a coverup. You can’t investigate a coverup without investigating what it is they are trying to cover up.
With this news, I’m betting that Trump fires Mueller. His staff can only keep the lid on him for so long.
I’m worried, because I don’t think, at this point, that it would result in the congress doing anything besides cluck clucking. Maybe a few months down the line, when Trump’s approval is 29%, they would do something, but not today.
Other differences between Trump and Capone: only one is commander in chief of the armed forces, and only one would be willing to do anything to hold on to money or power.
OK, scratch that second thing.
I don’t know, seems there’s more than enough legal jeopardy to spread around here within Trump’s sphere of influence. If the folks in the WH and people like Nunnes find themselves sitting down for an in depth interview with Mueller the pressure to individually flip will surely bring the hammer down on Congress. There’s no reason why these folks won’t flip on leadership as well as Trump.
Yeah, but it is going to take forever. There may be no country before there is an indictment. I will probably have died before there is an indictment. I wish these illegal, criminal things by the President would be treated like a kidnapping. If not, the country will be dead.
A bit OT, but wow – the AHCA does not have majority public opinion support in any state. And yet the Senators on the GOP side continue to concoct their version of this monstrosity in secret.
This morning, Trump tweeted:
“They made up a phony collusion with the Russians story, found zero proof, so now they go for obstruction of justice on the phony story. Nice.”
Well then, he’s got nothing to worry about.
