I woke up sick and with back spasms and wasn’t sure I could coach my soccer team, but I sucked it up and was rewarded with a 12-6 victory. We’ve got a winning streak going now and seem to reach double digits in goals each week. Seems like I always get the kids whipped into peak form just in time for the season to end and for the team to get disbanded. I look forward to coaching a team some day where I get the same kids each season.
What’s on your mind?
I’m still steaming over the whole Kelly/Trump debacle. I’m glad that last night CBS news showed the press questioning Huckabee Sanders and one of their reporters, Chip Reid, really persisting in the pursuit of truth about the lies Kelly said.
I would not deny Kelly’s right to keep his son’s death private, but Trump dragged him out of his grave and Kelly played right into his hands. Kelly said horrible things and proved that he is as disgusting as the rest of Trump’s administration. Fuck him.
I’m taking the weeknd to work on a rug hooking project and avoiding the news as much as possible. I need a break!
Congratulations on a big soccer win, and I hope your back problems clear up! I hope your weekend goes well.
Kelly’s “sacred phone call” line is ample evidence to conclude that he’s a dickhead. Find it difficult to believe that anyone would refer to a private phone call from a Pope as sacred and like all clergy, a Pope is labeled a man of god. If Trump is a god’s chosen messenger, we’re in bigger trouble than anyone can imagine.
. . . conundrum (of the GOP Age).
Either way, the guy is One Sick Fuck.
I just read this, this (including link to the video of Congresswoman Wilson’s entire actual speech that Kelly so heinously lied about — as noted in one of these links, the only true thing he said about the event was, “And a congresswoman stood up”), and this (hat-tip atrios).
There are only two options given the concrete evidence at those links:
Neither option is more comforting than the other.
Perhaps as disturbing is his worshipfulness of all things and people military, which he bolsters with another long litany of clear falsehoods, simultaneously demanding we all adopt the same insane, destructive, unquestioning reverence.
And he’s supposed to be The Adult whose presence and influence are supposed to keep Trump in line (or so the gullible fools of the Corporate Media keep telling us).
They are two (racist/misogynist) peas in a pod, as Kelly just got through demonstrating decisively.
Alas, our media, discourse, and politics are so fucked-up at this point that I would be very surprised to see this have any negative repercussions for Trump or Kelly. Their horribleness is now normalized, expected. Election of The Pussy-Grabber-in-Chief put the final exclamation point on that conclusion.
Kelly has only one avenue to deflect that definitive conclusion, now and by history for posterity: the most abject and sincere apology imaginable to Rep. Wilson for his utterly false slander of her.
I’d be astonished to see it, though.
If he were an honorable man, that would have deterred him from committing the slander in the first place.
Seems far more likely he’ll try to deny, bluster, and counter-attack his way past this thorough discrediting he brought upon himself (which tactic has been, as of this writing, the entirety of his and the Trump Maladministration’s — e.g., Huckabee Sanders’ — “response” so far).
He looks so far to be exactly like Trump in that respect.
So much so that that tactic deserves its own descriptor. I nominate: ‘Kelly will try to “Trump his way through it.”‘
And likely succeed, judging from recent evidence. Love to be wrong about that.
As you know, that apology will never happen. Kelly has shown himself to be a true believer.
When he said this “Women were sacred and looked upon with great honor” what he meant was ‘the time when women, particularly black women, knew better than to criticize white men higher than them in the power hierarchy’.
He’s a true believer. I would bet money that like Trump, he hates Obama with the power of the sun.
.
Congrats. Hope that full-sidelines coaching turned out to be a cure for back spasms.
Putting in community vegetable gardens and pollinator gardens seems to be the latest thing locally. Some homeowners associations and churches are doing this in the age of Trump and putting together informal local services to people who’ve rented housing under Section 8 subsidized leases. There is a serious housing price crisis now; a successful Amazon HQ2 bid will make it much worse.
Duke Energy is greenwashing by putting up $10 million in the Carolinas and Virginia on projects to clean up water. Duke Energy’s coal ash debacle that polluted one river and was hauled to land bordering another created a major public relations problem for the local monopoly. I remember 60 years ago when their motto on the side of their trucks was “Citizenship-Safety-Service”. And their employees were involved in most of the civic activities in my small city.
Congrats on the win, and sucking it up. The kids appreciated it, I’m certain, even if they only demonstrated it by producing results.
I’m trying to figure out how my ‘client’ shares DNA with the daughters of a man who died in 1810 but made no mention of her ancestor in his Will. Also wading through her stack of her documents trying to figure out where the heck was another of her ancestors during the Revolutionary War. NO TWITTER.
Get some rest, BooMan.
Are you a geneology researcher?
Not professionally. I’m a hobbyist.
It’s my birthday so we came to Memphis to run a half marathon this morning. Now we are eating seafood and drinking beer before hitting Tater’s and heading back to Nashville
Congrats on the win, hope your back feels better soon. Here in Washington state it is cool and rainy yet again today.
Why are so many cities opposed to RV’S parking in residential areas on street,(Some even band parking in your own driveway).
I bring this up for I have an older RV that I have to drive across town to work on that I pay to park in a lot. Which by the way after several years I just received notice that the lot lease will not be renewed for the guy I rent from. Thus by January I might have to move the old girl to A different spot.
Hey furthest thing I could think of from national politics I could think of. 8)
I coached my daughter’s team for about 6 years. In that time, I had a core group of about 8-9 who came back every year. Our league would keep groups together, so getting the same girls year after year was not difficult. One year, I only got about 10 girls, so I had to call their friends to recruit. This was dicey, as 50 year-old men calling 12 YO girls is not always socially acceptable. So I called their moms to get them to play. The girls were interested, and 2 of the recruits were actually pretty good. That was one of my favorite years. I also really enjoyed the last year (when they were in 8th grade), when they really got the whole idea of passing. It was a fun thing to coach. I never got them to the point where they could score 12 goals though, so good on you, Booman.
12-6? This was futbol and not football?
