Vladimir Putin doesn’t like protests. He’s arrested opposition leader Alexei Navalny and some of his associates after they called for a boycott of the upcoming presidential election. He also raided his headquarters.
Russia police have raided the Moscow office of opposition leader Alexei Navalny as demonstrations calling for a boycott of Russia’s presidential election take place across the country.
A video stream Sunday morning from Navalny’s headquarters showed police entering the office. One broadcaster on the stream said police apparently were using a grinder to try to get access to the broadcast studio.
The anchors said police said they had come because of a bomb threat.
Trump continues to complain that his own internal security forces won’t lock up his political opponent and that the press is able to use the first amendment to publish things he dislikes. So far, however, he hasn’t banned the Democrats from fielding a candidate against him or raided the offices of MSNBC.
Well, gee, that’s a relief. Trump and his Republican Party are degrading all our systems and the cultures of our communities so that they might commit Putinesque acts in the future, though. “The future” does not mean 2018 or 2020; our systems and cultures haven’t degraded to that point yet. But it’s evil for them to seek to degrade our systems and cultures to the degree they’ve already achieved.
A question for the Frog Pond: in 2016 and 2017 which politician appeared on Sunday talk shows more frequently than anyone else?
I’m going to say Lindsey Graham.
Oops. I meant Donald Trump. I get them confused a lot.
And it’s not like Trump appears occasionally. There were times where he was a guest on several consecutive weeks, on all major networks.
The politician who made the most total Sunday show appearances the last two years is Bernie Sanders.
So far….
Internal security forces? He can’t even convince anyone to fire the people he wants fired.

Well…first of all, he didn’t need to stop the Dems from putting up a viable candidate in the last (
s)election because they did it themselves. And…it looks like they are going to do it all over again if Trump’s still in office in 2020.And MSNBC?
Wait a minute!!! I’ve got an idea!!!
Let’s start a new federal office. One that has the power to prosecute purveyors of false news no matter on what side(s) of the political chasm(s) they want us to think that they reside!!!
We could call it…we could call it The Ministry Of Truth!!!
Oh.
Wait a minute.
Maybe not…
And maybe we’re too late.
Nevemind.
Your freind…
Emily
Truthtella…errrr, ahhhh…I mean Emily Litella.Yes, Arthur. Democrats aren’t perfect so fuck them. Trump forever!
You know what is funny?
Only way Navalny can be called opposition leader is if you ignore the other opposition parties that is in parliament. Largest is the Communists, but there’s a number of different parties in parliament, and lots of different candidates for president. If western press argues that point at all, it’s by declaring they’re all the same or controlled by Putin.
Can you find somebody in the US who is loud, has lost a mayoral race, is denied ballot access to the presidential election and has a history of being involved in various third parties, often splitting if they don’t accept his leadership? That would be the equivalent of Navalny. If US authorities arrests such a figure, that would be the equivalent of Russian authorities arresting Navalny.
Of course, to claim that such a figure is the opposition leader, you have to ignore the Democrats as opposition.
What else do you expect from a Russian dictator?
What’s next, the breathless news that horses eat grass?
