Happy Hump Day and Happy Pi Day! To celebrate, I’m posting songs with a pie theme. Yes, I’m a geek.
I begin with Madonna’s cover of Don McLean’s iconic American Pie.
Go get ’em, local girl!
Next, Jay & the Techniques with their 1967 hit Apples Peaches Pumpkin Pie.
That was a fun discovery on YouTube.
The final song on a pie theme is I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch) by The Four Tops.
I enjoyed working backwards in time with these songs.
Once again, I’m concluding the diary proper by quoting Don Durito.
For those of you wondering how I and Neon Vincent are circumventing Sucuri to embed videos, here is an example of the embed code we use, so that you can replicate as wanted:
Just remember that each unique 11-digit video code in YouTube needs to be pasted in two separate locations within the embed code in order for your video to show up properly. So easy that I can do it!
With those instructions, feel free to post your favorite music videos in the comments.
I’ll return tomorrow with songs and drinks inspired by the destruction of Pompeii. Beware The Ides of March!
Modified from Three pie songs and a pie drink for Pi Day 2018 at Crazy Eddie’s Motie News.
Now for the drink, Flaming Pumpkin Pie Shots from Tipsy Bartender, of course.
The Bartender is taking requests.
What goes well with blackberry pie? I understand one of my daughters is baking one tomorrow and is supposed to save a slice for me when I get home from work Weds. night. I will definitely want a drink. Was thinking with what I have on hand I will likely enjoy a glass or two of Merlot.
So, how was the blackberry pie with merlot?
That works for a combination. Granted, by the time I came home from my second job it was very late (seemed to be a lot of accidents on my route, and that left me in standstill traffic, or being diverted) and I was too tired to do more than sample just a small slice of pie and pour what amounted to perhaps a sip or two of Merlot. But yeah, the after-commute experience was pleasant. I need to thank my youngest one when I see her later today.
beware the Ides of March! I have just the drink for today, the Lava Flow from Tipsy Bartender.
In honor of it being Sunshine Week, my drink for today is the Sunshine Cocktail.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day with St. Patrick’s Day Drinks from WXYZ in Detroit!
Whiskey drinks, of course, including Irish Coffee.
Once again, beware the Ides of March! I have two songs for today. The first is Siouxsie & The Banshees – Cities In Dust [Music Video].
That’s a 20th Century song inspired by the disaster. For a 21st Century take, here’s Bastille – Pompeii.
Tomorrow is both National Freedom of Information Day and National Panda Day. I’m not sure how I’ll celebrate either or both of them. On the other hand, if this diary is still on the rec list Saturday, I’ll be sure to have music and drinks for St. Patrick’s Day.
Today is National Freedom of Information Day, which celebrates the birthday of President James Madison and is held during Sunshine Week. Therefore, the song for today is Freedom of Information by Ausmuteants.
Today is also National Panda Day, so I’m also sharing Kung Fu Fighting by CeeLo Green and Jack Black from “Kung Fu Panda.” My readers should know I never get too far away from movie music.
My pick for a St. Patrick’s Day song is Beautiful Day by U2 — my favorite song by my favorite Irish band.
You were expecting something more traditional? Not me!
That’s it for the holidays for this week. If my readers want to see more videos, they can post their own!
