I asked my asshole teenager this question and the fucker pointed at ME.
Someone can ride in the trunk all the way to Philly.
Sick burn.
There was some idiot somewhere on the internet arguing that Trump was America’s just Karmic desserts for Trump’s policy of kidnapping kids from their parents.
That was pretty stupid.
The above comment.
First of all, it’s “Just deserts“, marduk.
You could look it up.
“Just Desserts” might make a nice name for a sweet shoppe of some kind, though. Give it a try.
Secondly…assuming that you are referencing my recent post Karma Knows ALL Secrets. And…It ALWAYS Collects Its Debts. Eventually. with this inane snark…I wrote:
That does not say that “Trump was America’s just Karmic desserts for Trump’s policy of kidnapping kids from their parents.” He…and all of his actions…are inevitably leading to some kind of showdown here, a showdown that has been long overdue. Since when? Since the Vietnam War, just for starters.
Let us pray…those of us who believe in the ongoing evolution of life on earth…that he and his massive evil gets taken down, and soon.
Otherwise?
Things are just going to get worse.
Maybe evolution will smply throw up its hands and vacate the premises, at which point there will definitely be hell to pay.
Climatic hell?
Nuclear hell?
Scylla and Charybdis once again.
Each time with a more serious set of monsters.
We shall see.
Won’t we.

Well it’s only 8 am on the west coast so I’ll go with yesterday when I saw the guy driving in front of me flick a cigarette out the window. We’re under red flag warning, fires all round. Got his license plate, stopped and found the cigarette still smoldering.
2 guys died yesterday in Redding trying to save people from the horrendous wildfire.
That’s pretty unbelievable. I hope they fine the driver if nothing else. The west is a tinder box waiting to go up.
. . . this. Would have if I’d seen it before posting the preceding comment.
Noticed that happen all the time in the high plains of OK and TX. Even in my own corner of the south. Of course it has been a long while since vehicles came with ashtrays, so most remaining smokers simply keep the driver’s side window cracked and flick ashes as they drive – red flag warning or not. Personally, I suspect it would not be much effort to buy an aftermarket ashtray (and they’re generally affordable) and drive responsibly. Appears to be asking too much.
Good for you. Hope they sock it to him.
Stupid? This clown on a YouTube video describing Chicago as a socialist state. My friend who sent along this video lived in Chicago most of his life, but left America to make his fortune in Singapore. He liquidated a house he owned in Chicago, and now he is very anti-Chicago. He’s a very sharp guy but he was impressed by this POS. The individual on this video is one of those superbly smarmy types who chortles at their own jokes with a mistaken notion that they’re actually funny. I waded into the comments for this video, and now, there’s stupid on parade, BooMan. The comments come from people in places like Texas who speak of Chicago transplants who are “poisoning local politics.” I’m not sure precisely what that entails. Back to smarmy video guy and his 2014 video presentation when all things Chicago were all things Obama, and that by extension was bad, because well, you know, Obama was a socialist and Obama was black. The comments do reveal the ignorance and hatred that propelled Orange Shit Gibbon into the presidency in 2016 along with some rocket fuel Wodka sent over by the Kremlin. If you can stomach this guy’s presentation and the comments that follow, you can witness some stupid. That’s what I spent about twenty minutes digesting today, and it fully qualifies as stupidest thing I’ve seen today. I’m of the thinking that ass clown presenter was dumped by a guy or gal in Chicago for being a weenie at one of the city’s fine drinking establishments because he’s a conservative prick after all and who wants to make it with a conservative?, and now he has an axe to grind. Besides most of his data is now rendered irrelevant because most of the credit ratings agencies excepting Moody’s upgraded Chicago’s bond rating from junk to B grade after some Rahm Emanuel taxation and rising revenues helped alleviate the city’s pension fund crisis. One of the bond agencies I subsequently checked out described Chicago’s multifaceted, diversity of corporations that keep the city thriving despite some serious problems. At the end of the day, just as you’re rightly proud of Philadelphia, BooMan I don’t take too kindly to seeing my home town slagged off by an ass muncher who probably works in bonds and who sells Chicago short to make a profit. https://youtu.be/BB6h9R0I-aM
Slate saying the Cohen revelation is no big deal because it’s “not a crime” to approve of an upcoming meeting.
. . . now.

Innumerable commentators on forums: “The whole Russian interference story is ridiculous. I don’t believe that a $46K ad buy had any effect”.
*America is sinking into a sea of ignorance.
Abolish ICE
Can liberals please work out how to win back the working class?
Thomas Frank
. . . the “white working class”‘.
So there’s that.
just too many things in there set me off
. . . Not without flaws (greatest being unrealistic lack of recognition of the limits of the politically possible, as though Dems have the power to just wave our hands and make it so). But no, definitely not the stupidest thing I’ve seen today. In fact a great deal there that Dems could and should learn from. Most valid: while they don’t have magical powers to make it be so, they should at least be articulating, loudly and clearly, their vision of what they would do if they did have such magic powers.
