Steve King is as racist as they come, but he’ll probably get reelected because at least he isn’t a Democrat. The people of Iowa’s 4th District should be ashamed. Many of them have grandparents or parents who fought Nazis in World War Two. Some of them even died in the effort. And they don’t care about electing a Nazi sympathizer to represent them in Congress.
.
Sympathizer? He’s an out-and-out advocate, one might even say an activist.
That’s your modern Republican party. Their base went full bigot long ago. But, for long their politicians just employed dog-whistles like the Harold Ford “Call Me Harold” ad, showing a young white woman urging Democrat Harold Ford to call her. It’s a pure “Where the white women at?” goad to bigots.
But now Trump showed that you can win when all gloves are off and they are openly marching under the Nazi flag. But, don’t you dare call them bigots! They get to decide who’s a bigot and who’s not, and YOU’RE the bigot for trying to stifle their free speech rights to march under the Nazi flag with Swastikas and pictures of Trump as Leader.
Trump already has his S.A. If he suggested they adopt uniforms they certainly would. That would really terrify and piss of the Libtardz! Har!
That’s the thing about fascists. Nothing but power matters at all to them and their motto is always “we will march upon a road of bones!”
Well, in a couple of weeks the American people have a chance at redemption.
It doesn’t matter what their parents or grandparents did in WWII. King’s voters are not ashamed because they agree with him.
But they are all one tribe, you know, got their own rules.
For the most part, Americans didn’t fight the Nazis because we cherish freedom and egalitarianism. We fought them because there was a war and we were told they were the enemy. Krauts! Not even fully human.
Had they been our allies, we would have happily fought alongside those blond blue-eyed boys. Heck, half the mid-west is of German ancestry. Donult Drupf is of German Ancestry.
Racism has never gone out of style. It’s alive and well because it’s kind of how we’re programmed. To have empathy for those who remind of ourselves and to see outsiders and undeserving of care. We evolved in tribes.
With enough education, we can come to see our tribe as larger. But the basic circuitry is alive and well within all of us.
The point is, they were our enemy and they were not our allies. And that didn’t happen by accident.
Yes, there were people like Henry Ford and Charles Lindbergh. They were isolationists and antisemites. They thought Hitler was doing great things and we should never fight the Germans. There was an “America First” movement (supported to the extent possible by the Nazis) that was opposed to us getting involved in the war, and not because they were pacifists.
How many of the ancestors of Steve King and his voters were among them I don’t know. I do think participating in the war, and the home front war effort, taught people a lot about pulling together as Americans. But that was more than 70 years ago. Much has happened since then, especially in the last couple of decades.
So fuck Steve King and anyone who votes for him.
The germans of the midwest are largely descended from the people who fled the country after 1848.
They abandoned the plot long ago. They don’t care about the country anymore, they don’t care about the Constitution (which they’ve never actually read), and they don’t care about American values.
They are frightened mice who don’t want to bell the cat – they want to worship him.
Succinct; and well said.
. . . of BT and ET archives might turn up anyone linking to “Unzensuriert”. (No link . . . so won’t be me!)
And no, I don’t have anyone particular in mind . . . why do you ask?
Better Putin than Hillary, better Adolph than a Dem. Hell, they’re one step away from arguing “Hitler was misunderstood!—which is very likely Brownshirt King’s position.
White citizens such as the IA4ers hate the demographics of the Dem party, and will never associate themselves with such a party, solely for that reason. Policy is largely irrelevant, howevermuch they categorically deny it
All the IA4th Dems and independents together couldn’t defeat King.
I’ve said before that we’re fighting for 1776 principles.
Nothing has changed my mind on that front.
