Midweek Cafe and Lounge, Vol. 245

I fell in love with Shriekback’s sound many more years ago than I’d want to admit. Nemesis is their signature hit. But this song is the one that really got my attention. Neon Vincent, when he still posted here (I miss him a lot), reminded me that this song was an under-rated hit. It’s a song of its time I suppose. Unlike a lot of what was going on in the mid-1980s and later, it wasn’t over-produced. It’s clear that there is a song there. I’ll leave you to judge if this was a Zen pop song.

Cheers.

    1. The year is new, and we’ve already lost a number of talented people. Good to see you posting here. My life got a bit complicated the last few days – we had a bit of a COVID scare. Family member who had been exposed, started having some symptoms over a week later, but thankfully tested negative. Pretty hard to avoid these days. Doing our best.

      1. Glad to hear every one is ok. I tested positive the week before Christmas (unmasked idiot at work). Vaxxed and boosted so nothing worse than a sore throat and slight cold like symptoms. Still, had to isolate from my family for the holiday. Not fun, but they stayed covid free.

        1. Glad you recovered and your family got to stay COVID-free. Right now my campus has temporarily flipped to virtual. Not too many good options when 1/10th of your faculty and staff are testing positive and many others are quarantining. I’ll be in a virtual meeting in a few hours with someone who is positive and has mild symptoms. Let’s all hang in there as best we can.
