   I overuled myself and just turned it on and…I’m sorry but it looks like a mix…oh wait, Javier what’s his name just said “my friends” (wtf)…a mix between the Oscars, a foreclosure opportunity infomercial, and an Oprah on the road segment, with cheesy piped music in between.

     Party leaders act to stop Clinton supporters spoiling coronation

     The Democratic high command has taken extraordinary measures to prevent a public split breaking out on the floor of the party’s convention in Denver as delegates move to endorse Barack Obama for president later today.

     After backroom manoeuvring, there will be no roll call of delegates on the convention floor, during which disaffected Hillary Clinton delegates hoped to show their fury with Barack Obama on national television. Instead the roll call will take place away from public view in hotel breakfast rooms across Denver.

     Mrs Clinton, who has agreed to the terms of the deal, has instructed her aides to work closely with the Obama campaign to stifle any public outbreaks of dissent on the convention floor and has urged her supporters to unite behind her former Democratic rival. Last night she was given unprecedented access to the podium for a losing candidate.

        See, I view dissent as a sign of inherant healthiness. Raucus debate is a good thing. Defiance is a good thing. It hones the final messagfe to a fine point.

       Not that I believe there’s much that’s going to come of this event.

         we had plenty of dissent during the primaries.

         Imagine a Coke commercial where people kept interrupting to say that Pepsi would have been better.  

         That kind of dissent can drive people to drink Sprite.

   A Thinkprogress find:

   Hagel and 8 other GOP senators will take a pass on RNC Convention.

   Along with Hagel, the following conservative senators are also taking a pass: Pat Roberts (R-KS), Ted Stevens (R-AK), Elizabeth Dole (R-NC), Gordon Smith (R-OR), Susan Collins (R-ME), Larry Craig (R-ID), Wayne Allard (R-CO), and John Sununu (R-NH). Roger Wicker (R-MS) is undecided about whether he will attend.

   I’m watching Governor Granholm MC a panel of (I guess what’s supposed to be) average Americans in a version of the Dating Game. Is this what anyone who aspires to political service has to look forward to having to endure in the future?
