Welcome to Friday Foto Flogging, a place to share your photos and photography news. We were inspired by the folks at European Tribune who post a regular Friday Photoblog series to try the same on this side of the virtual Atlantic. We also thought foto folks would enjoy seeing some other websites so each week we’ll introduce a different photo website.
This Week’s Theme: Textures.
Website(s) of the Week: Canon Wonder Camera, from macro to 5000mm in a single lens/body.

Previous Friday Foto Flogs
I’m having trouble sleeping d/t this incredible heat wave we’re experiencing in Ottawa (during the day it’s been over 120ºF in my back yard) so thought I’d pop the diary up early.
Looking forward to seeing what you’ve been photographing since the last Foto Flog.
What? 120? Canada? OMG.
It’s been 100 here, and that’s unbearable enough.
Yep. The highest I saw it go was 125. The air is solid, like a hot wall when you walk out into it. And it steals your breath at first b/c it seems like there’s no oxygen. I’ve never experienced anything like it.
Wow! Stay cool!
You too.
In a clear sign of the apocalypse, I would like to invite you to visit so you can cool off.
LOL … I’m not sure how you handle it?!
Or you could both come to Indiana where it’s not as hot as either place.

c’mon down…pix later…maybe.
I wish…
Even Geneva has had 30 deg C ++ every day since I came back here 11 days ago. Today, it was 95 (35). Not normal.
It’s 10.15 pm and still mid 80s.
Sounds blissful. Enjoy it for us, will ya.
(Looking forward to pix later.)
That sounds about perfect! We’re all coming over.
Ouch! {{{olivia}}}
That’d about wipe me out especially if the humidity was high too.
I’ve never experienced temps that high here in ND.
Although records were set higher than that back in 1936, but not likely much humidity then due to the ongoing drought.
Sorry I missed last month, hope this makes up for it.

Hi Bob —
Those definitely make up for it. Love the colours in rock and sedge, and the ferns look so feathery and soft – wow. Great framing in the last photo.
Thanks, I like taking texture and pattern shots. The string of seeds is neat.
Glad you made it for this one, Bob.
Nice set for the theme. The stone is my favorite — I like how you’ve made something rather simple an interesting composition.
I love the variety of textures, Bob.

Those are great — love the bright spot in beech and hickory …
Took me a minute to get a handle on the mixed-media installation. Esp w/ the tree branch on the right side. This photo has so much texture going on … lol.
A funny design story from a site called Clients From Hell:
Olivia,
That person has a low digit IQ.
I have to run out for a photo shoot but will be back to post some textures in the FFF before the evening is over.
I hope you can stay cool.
I know you`re already Cool.
I`m going to take pictures of a girl`s feet. (different shoot)
Then when I download them, I`ll just scroll up to check out her body.
How do you classify those who just don`t get it, in this digital world.
On the opposite side though, my daughter had a friend over who wanted to call her mom to come & pick her up.
I pointed her to the phone & she was stumped.
It was a rotary.
Many people also can`t tell time on an analog clock.
AndiF,
First, thanks for the heads up.
Secondly, did you realize your first image was a great optical illusion also.
It looks like the greenery is on the building roof & flowing over the edge & down the wall.
I didn’t see that at all until you pointed it out. But then I don’t know where waldo is either.
#1 Clouds and Moon June 27th 2010
#2 Clouds and Moon June 27th 2010
My eyes did not actually see what the camera recorded, as the clouds were moving quickly over the image of the moon. And since I was shooting at 1.6 – 4.0 seconds, this “time-lapse” effect resulted in somewhat fuzzier and more colorful clouds.
Those are both very beautiful and very disconcerting images. What a great capture.
Thanks AndiF.
There are a bit disconcerting. They might do well as covers for, “It was a dark and stormy night” types of novels.
Hi NDD. I like the bit of orange colour mixed in w/ the blacks and whites, and the movement of the clouds. Neato.
ffflogging textures?
local fuzzy fauna, caught munching flora…hence the guilty look [cellcam]
red
blue
naughts
Great capture on the deer and great eye to see ‘blue’ but ‘red’ wins on texture for me — it’s so tactile.
Love the weathered wood.
Great expression on the deer’s face … Love the colours – the red and blue. Nicely seen and captured.
Incredibly sensuous tender hibiscus
Light and shadow
Carved drawer pull
Delicately soft
Early morning aromatic lily
Lots of great choices here but the lily does the theme the best I think.
Hi ID. Love the carved drawer pull. What it is on? A sideboard?
I`m little late today, but before I went to do a job I took these shots.
Note the bunny I`m hand feeding in the back yard.
Enjoy.
Well the bunny is just adorable but I really like the series of shots of the tiles, with first being my favorite.
That`s` my 8 car parking area I put up by the street at the top of my long driveway.
It`s separated from the street by a 12 foot wide x 40 foot long cactus garden, where the other cactus posted grow.
I like the way the pavers interlock to create the pattern, nice.
Love those cacti. I wish that these could be grown here in NY.
Boran2,
You could grow most of these indoors with window light.
Boran2,

I’ve got a few indoors. I meant that I wish that these could be grown outdoors.
Hi Head. Great set — love the second down of the cactus. Those black areas/notches are striking. And hello to ‘Stew’ …
just one today:
But it sure is a great Just One. Even the color has texture. The photo is perfect for this theme and stands on its own as a fine photo.
Hi Sven. Love the colours, and the differences in texture between feather types.
Perfect morning
The sand along the lakeshore is filled with sharp zebra mussel shells. I left my shoes at the top of the hill.
We spent a lot of time here when the gang was little
Trees down everywhere after this storm. Also, the weirdest yellow sky at sunset.
I love both feet shots but the second one especially well — and it’s definitely a theme winner.
Hi SN. Great feet shots – esp in the water b/c it looks so refreshing, but those zebra mussels are a pain (literally) aren’t they.
Great images, people! Very inspired.
I has a textur! City wench/country wench edition featuring Sadie, our shelter adoptee.
Clever use of thumbnails for the head picture.
This was a hard set to pick a favorite — both the flowers had great textures but I’m the going with sidewalk with the metal plating because I really liked the lighting.
Glad you liked the pix, Andi! Also glad I was able to contribute today.
Spring St. lighting: there’s a certain time of day in very late spring when the light in the city is indeed beautiful. I was lucky to be able to capture some of it.
As for the thumbnail, that’s ImageCave, not me. I provided the head.
Just noticed that Sadie’s thumbnail is different than the finished image, too. Looks like they’re using the original picture to create the thumbnail, even tho’ the uploaded image is manipulated. How dey do dat?
Hiya ww. Great set – varied! Love that lily …
Cute little Sadie. Looks like a relative of our newest houseguest:
