“Must…not…give…Robertson…press,” writes Evan Derkacz at Alternet’s PEEK. Well, yes. Wise thinking. However, as Evan writes on, “Gah! I can’t help myself…” Neither could I.
Did I miss this one? Was this all over the blogs …? [A]pparently Robertson’s sworn off the meds for good (or maybe Rush pilfered them after some late-night rendezvous), blaming the choice of lesbian Ellen Degeneres to host the Emmys for the catastrophe in New Orleans.
She’s from New Orleans so, you know, God didn’t strike New Mexico …
Robertson then put 1 and 2 together and came up with 4:
“This is the second time in a row [9/11] that God has invoked a disaster shortly before lesbian Ellen Degeneres hosted the Emmy Awards… America is waiting for her to apologize for the death and destruction that her sexual deviance has brought onto this great nation.”
Uhh, if God struck New Orleans because it was her hometown then why New York the first time? Maybe she visited once and got her gay all over the town. (Dateline Hollywood [a parody site] via Amie Newman)
I haven’t heard, but can imagine, Robertson saying Ellen’s last name: “De-generate-sss.” A hint of T, and a lot of hissy esses. (Wonder what Robertson thought of yesterday’s brown-out in sinful Los Angeles.)
Update [2005-9-13 12:2:32 by susanhu]: From PEEK: “Fool us twice, shame on…you. This was originally posted as truth — or gospel, if you will. But it says everything that it wasn’t outside the realm of possibility, doesn’t it?”
Time to take Robertson “out”. Now that does not mean assasinate him for you Fbiers dropping in. That means take this wacko off the airwaves and give him a room on the government at Belleview please!
Maybe God saw her stand-up act.
This might convince you that Pat Robertson is on to something:
The day I ended up in the ER, i had the awful nausea so laid down on my bed and turned on the TV. Ellen Degeneres’s show was on. I’d never seen it! So, I decide to quit watching news/CSPAN for a bit, and watch “junk.” Well, Ellen is hilarious! She does this goofy dance through the audience .. and later, at the hospital where I recounted that I was lying down, relaxing, and laughing at Ellen when the crushing chest pains hit me, the nurses all told me that Ellen does that goofy dance every day!
Ellen Degeneres + laughter = chest pains that mimic a heart attack! Only god knows the answer to that equation.
and I am supposed to give her the benefit of the doubt? She’s a menace. A satanic menace.
(psssst. . .her opening routines have often prompted me to join in and dance through the living room, but please don’t tell anyone. ;^) It’s spontaneous joy.
Ellen is a fabulous comic and her humor is never mean-spirited or at the expense of others. She really seems like a beautiful, caring spirit.
To have this type of venom aimed in her direction is nothing short of despicable. Go fuck yourself, Mr. Robertson. And when you’re done, do it again. Ignorant asshat prick.
isn’t she a riot? Just dancin’ around… and it’s hysterically funny!
I recommend that anyone who’s sad or angry watch a few minutes of her show! I didn’t know what I was missing watching (yech) Norah O’Donnell.
The crazier Pat Robertson gets, the more Bush likes it:
Oh yeah, Operation Blessing was right up there on FEMA’s website after the Red Cross with a suggestion that we all give money to Pat. As Bush nudges closer to insanity, his administration is slowly becoming more outrageous. From the Progress Report over at American Progress Action Fund.
Susan dear, dear Susan, I too thought this was another verification of Robertson’s non-existent grasp of reality until someone else pointed out Dateline Hollywood’s self-published history:
Now if this doesn’t convince you that they are the Onion’s flamboyant sibling, check out these headlines from today’s front page:

You have to see the stories to appreciate them fully.
The problem these days is you can’t write satire that isn’t immediately outpaced by reality.
Thanks to Jeff Simpson over at MLW for enlightening me.
Ha! it’s alright that i’ve been had. I’ve had a lot of fun … oh god that’s funny, Omir :):)
Thinking … should I put a disclaimer up somehow?
Nahhhhh … let the rumors swirl. Robertson deserves it.
You mean you would let a piece of satire portraying Robertson as a completely out-of-touch wacko permeate the consciousness of America, disguised as the truth?
Somehow I’m OK with that.
<grin>
Details, details. I still think he’s a loathsome, ignorant, asshat prick.
Just for the record, I’m not disagreeing with you on that one. As I posted elsewhere:
As a Christian, it saddens me to think that many people believe Pat Robertson shares my faith, even though a cursory objective glance would be sufficient to show that he doesn’t follow the teachings of Jesus.
As an American, it angers me to think that many people believe Robertson is somehow representative of our country.
And as a human being, it frightens me to know that over 99% of my DNA is identitcal to his.
And I happen to know what a good, conscientious, thoughtful human being you are, so it must be particularly painful for you.
I did put up an update … BooMan so advised :):) ( I’ll blame him!)
this fascists asshat has procreated and polluted the gene pool further with his insidious hatemongering.
If I was a Christian, I surely would be striving to shut down this fascist moneygrubbing hatemonger who clearly hates Americans, Jesus and anyone who is not like himself.
He revealed years ago that bad weather is caused by feminists.
Great line!
I have it on High Authority that God punished the U.S. with Katrina right where it hurts most, the Gulf port cities with the refineries. This was because Robertson said what he said, but didn’t say, well he did say, but didn’t mean, about Chavez. So there, we can play the “blame game” too!
BTW I mean no disrespect to the folks down on the Gulf who have and will suffer so much because of this terrible storm, and the slow to develop relief response to it.
