Is it Monday already?
Brilliantly sunny here in NC, but colder than a witch’s..well you know. Four years removed from the north, bitter cold means anything under 30 degrees these days.
Having known a number of … well, you know…
Normal body temperature, just like everyone else.
(just FYI.)
Hey, thanks! I’m always amazed at what I learn here.
Thinking of warmer days…
Gorgeous photo. Makes me want to be there even though I’m not much of a beach person.
Judging by the coffee cart, this might be a pretty quiet day.
Continuing the water theme …
I was tempted to let the coffee cart hang around until maryb and crew showed up for the late shift.
They were an impressively chatty bunch last night.
Soggy day in Silly Con Valley, and going to be a soggy week. Good day to stay indoors and work on clearing away assorted junk.
Spouse off to the doctor again to see what’s going on with the dang BP…we talked about it and he may look into a couple of weeks of time off (may possibly be unpaid) to really work on getting it down low enough to get it within DMV levels. Plus, I’d like to have a couple of weeks where I can concentrate on getting this disaster area known as the apartment cleaned up, and there’s a lot of stuff I’d need his help on. (Really want it done before I go down to SoCal end of March — I hate coming home to a messy place!)
Okay, time to get check out a few news tidbits then get myself moving…
Have you ever thought of having one of those professional de-clutterers come to your place? It sounds awfully tempting to me. When we moved two years ago it took the movers two days solely because of 67 boxes of books and technical papers dating back to the 70’s that Mr. Nature refuses to part with. Each little box weighed about 50 lbs. and they’re now sitting in our attic.
back when spouse and I were watching “Clean Sweep” on TLC, but actually, it’s not so bad…mainly it’s just taking a day to really sort through all the crap then a second day to cart everything to its proper place (Goodwill, recycling, dump). We’re doing a bit better; we’ve actually invested in some organizational tools, like a couple of baskets for magazines to be read, a letter tray so we have a place to organize/sort mail, and a couple of actual wastebaskets (one for trash, one for mixed paper recycling). It’s a matter of getting a routine down, especially ditching stuff we don’t need and putting things away when we’re done with them.
We need more bookshelves too…I think I can fit a couple more in the dining room and one in the bedroom. If I ever win the lottery and buy my dream house, I’ll have one room that’s wall to wall bookshelves (with a small space for the computer desk)…plus will probably have tons of bookshelves in the living room too. 🙂
I finally had to come to an agreement about what books to save, because I am a book collector. Now I only save really nice hardbound books; for instance gardening or reference books, and I also save books to be read at a later date. Finally I save books that were my very favorites, even if they’re paperback. So-so books get donated.
Cali your dream about the lottery and books are the same as mine. Everyone always has their dream house and mine would include a massive library.
Thanks for the beautiful pictures and herbal tea. What started out to be a rather blah day for me, ya’ll have brightened up considerably.
Now that I’ve heard your voice, that “ya’ll” seems right at home.
I knew it was a mistake to have a recording of my voice:). I was trying to present myself as a man of mystery. You know the type. When asked my name it would be Man, Family Man.
I could have said that better and hope you didn’t think it was an insult. I’m married to a southern guy and sometimes his voice has the same effect on me as whispering something in French. Sometimes I laugh at the way he pronounces things, but sometimes he laughs at me for the same reason. Oh well, instead of you say potato and I say potato…it’s more like you say INsurance and I say inSURance. 🙂
SN of course I didn’t take it that way. I was trying to make a joke and I guess it didn’t come out well. I’ve never taken offense at anything anyone has said to me here. And if I cause you one second of worry, I am sorry.
Well, if it helps, I do think you’ve retained a certain mystery about yourself. I know it’s a mystery to me how you can put up with those horrible migraines. You must be a lot stronger than I am.
Not really, I’m really a big wuss when it come to pain. But over the years I’ve come to accept it a part of my life and I just have to live and work with it as best I can.
I read about it over on katiebird’s blog (don’t know if you that I’m LauraM there) and I can’t believe how much you suffer with them. I get your basic migraine about 2 or 3 times a month that lasts for maybe 36 hours. Nothing like yours though.
No I didn’t know you were LauraM over there. Now I feel you are the woman of mystery.
Yes they are horrible and mine have lasted up to 3 days before. KB & DTF want me to write about them and pain management and I’m going to give it a try. I just hope I can get across the hopelessness and agony you go through when one hits.

A Good Morning and (((hugs))) from AP and Oui for all …
Yesterday was the big day AP and hubby would spend the day with me in the capitol city The Hague. They met up with me at the Hockey Club, near the miniature city of Madurodam, after AP decided to run the athletic course of 2mi. around the sports park to create some appetite for later in the day.
To restore some lost energy, AP was offered a French baguette with salad, tomato, brie and relaxed with a Heineken beer. We also met a fellow BooMan lurker who would join us for dinner in the evening.
Scheveningen Prison :: Orange Hotel during WWII
AP got excited when we checked the old Orange Hotel prison in Scheveningen where Milosevic resides, and there was vacancy for any future American contribution for the war crimes tribunal by the ICC. We swung around to pass by the
Wildlife Reservation - Meyendel Park Wassenaar

An exquisite setting to spend time with intelligent and beautiful people, I am proud to have met at BooMan’s Place. Thank you for companionship, the conversation and warmth of friendship, till we meet again.

That picture looks mystical…like the pony ought to be a unicorn.
Blogging from the treadmill again this morning. Two miles so far. No tea, just diet cola, but I pretended it was a really nice iced Oolong. Won’t be very visble for a while. Writing fast and don’t want to lose momentum. Hope all is well with y’all.
Thanks for the herbal tea, Second. I’ve been working a herbal tea buzz for a few days now. LOL
Been sick as a dawwwwwwwwwwg since Tuesday. Didn’t hold anything down till last night. So weight loss.. yay!!
Lesseee… the Mr. cracked his rib due to hockey and the hooded bandits are still out and about and … we have two offers on the house. Yay!
No coffee for me as I’m still “urppy”.
So what did I miss? Besides all you beautiful wonderful froglings?
You missed big talk about how everyone missed you and were sorry to hear that you were sick.
Hope you feel better…that’s a yucky way to lose weight!
I heard Saddam went for 11 days without eating… yeah riiight.. but was he puking, too?? Didn’t think so. Siddown Saddam.
🙂
Janet I’m so happy to see you back. I know you feel bad, but darn it’s good to know you feel at least a little better.
Hey there Family Man, I feel mucho better 🙂 I do need to learn not to get into long, drawn out discussion with the Mr. while sick and possibly out of my head LOL.
Now I know what those Special Features are for on the DVDs. Those are for day four of throwing up and laying in bed. 🙂
And now… here’s something a Kossack made for my son via a diary about autism… made me think of you today after reading your “man, family man” 🙂 Take two Eskimo Pies and call me in the morning 🙂
Family Man
(my son loves 007 and we watch them while eating Eskimo Pies) from my What’s Eating Damnit Janet
“Maybe that is the only real “burden” (not my term at all – society tends to think I am a poor, burdened soul because my child is different)…. maybe my real burden is having so much to share about something that many can’t comprehend.
Okay, it’s out there. Now we can watch James Bond and eat Eskimo Pies. Life is beautiful.
Now I can be what I need to be so that he can be everything he wants to be.”
Janet I just signed back in. I love the picture, Thanks.
And it is good to see you feeling better.
Sorry you’ve been sick-we missed you!
Congrats on the house offers. May you end up on the happy side of a bidding war. 🙂
I delurked to post a News Bucket item just for you.
Don’t say I never do anything for you 🙂
A bidding war. That’d be nice 🙂
Right back atcha CabinGirl 🙂 Missed you, too. Now I’m playing “ketchup”.
I’m bugged by an infected sore spot on my posterior — not only am I a pain in the ass, now I’ve got a pain in the ass!
NHL hockey is back tomorrow! Got to go do my picks…
Glad to see you back! Will have to miss another CodePINK meeting due to family obligations 🙁 but will be out there somewhere on the 8th for Int’l Woman’s Day… 🙂
Sorry about your ass ((((Cali))))) 🙂
Hockey is back… man did the Olympic Hockey from Can/USA suck… So glad Sweden won and Teemu didn’t.. that was the extent of my Oly hockey… was hoping ONE MAN didn’t get it. Guh! The Olympic drama… blech.
Hey Winterhawk was with Mr. Damnit when he cracked his rib. Then these two muggles decide to go to the “Hawks game versus T-birds March 18th. I was all, “uh maybe not”
Got some major protesting going on but… 17th and 19th and then th 20th 🙂 I’m FREE (If I’m not in jail) for the 18th 🙂
So damn happy you’re involved with the pink ones 🙂 It helps one feel like they are doing someting. Even if it just tacking up a Bring them home now postcard every day on the same board. 🙂
well, not exactly say.
DJ!
“Fuck Fear” 🙂
As I learned in the pond, Fear is the Republican drug of choice. 🙂
two word request?: Body Massage?
Well I liked the ‘No Fear’ for your next tattoo but if you prefer …
That is perfect!!! Even the right color- politically and personally 🙂
You know, for a person who finds bumperstickers too much of a committment… I really wonder if I ever will truly get a tat. LOL well the PEACE one is one that has stuck in my head for a while : )
Well I’ve stayed too long again and now have to clean up the house after the entire family was here yesterday.
I’ll check in later and have a good day in the pond.
Drive-by posting…catch yawl at Beer: 30
Later
Peace
wow if someone could amke a beach towel of that they would become a millionaire
Just a quick howdy before I go to bed. Had to leave work with the starting of a migraine. Hopefully, I have caught it in time and sleep and some good drugs will stop a full blown one. I do get lucky sometimes.
Hope everyone is having a fabulous Monday and I will check back after my nap.
From one that knows I hope it goes well.
Hope you feel better.
Hope you caught it in time.
Sorry you are feeling bad. Hope you feel better soon and are back LOL’ing with us.
Thanks everyone. I just woke up and except for a dull ache behind one eye I feel much better. I am thinking I caught this one in time.
I thought this little animation was going to be of the ha-ha variety, but it sent a cold chill down my spine.
LINK
Damn I can’t see it … yet.
Dial up till outta the apartment. Then, Second, I’ll be right there with you looking at the streaming gleaming.
It’s Iraq; The Musical. It’s eerie.
Sounds it.
Hey, the Mr. came home (I forget which day – lost track) with “Sinbad” dvd collection. The Ray Harryhausen goodies… it’s really odd to think that Baghdad… oh nevermind. It’s depressing.
Danni chirped up and said that she’d really would have liked to visited that area.. me too, kiddo.
I think in your weakened, feverish state we should forget about reality and concentrate on wonderful Ray Harryhausen movies.
Let’s see do I like Mysterious Island best or 20 Million Miles to Earth or the Golden Voyage of Sinbad or Jason and the Argonauts. Well, I know for sure it won’t be Valley of Gwangi — great effects, awful movie.
OMG you have all those??? 🙂
It was nice introducing the kids to it – all they had seen was Clash of the Titans.
Still… it wasn’t the boxed set of Bruce Lee that I’d been whining about for a while. 🙂
We have a really great collection of flicks here. Very ecletic 🙂
I only have ‘Jason’ but I’ve seen all the rest of them numerous times. Of great import though, I do have the complete first and second seasons of Rocky and Bullwinkle.
Now I’m jealous, I used to never miss them on TV.
We had those on VHS, too 🙂 I thought only truly sick and twisted people liked Moose and Squirrel. 🙂
Golly Gee Mr. Peabody are you talk to me :).
We had them on VHS too but they are much, much better on DVD.
I thought only truly sick and twisted people liked Moose and Squirrel.
Well, of course. And that’s why we get on so well.
Natasha is kinda hot. 🙂
Hokey smokes — that’s really perverted. 😉 And besides, I couldn’t get involved with Natasha — I wouldn’t want to be unfaithful to Bullwinkle.
to admit a crush on a cartoon character? I had a thing for Mr. Peabody’s boy Sherman… 😉
Reminds me of “Countdown” recently — Keith mentioned the Tsar Boris Goudonov, and commented that the most important fact was that without him, there would never have been a Boris Badenov…
Would it make you feel better if I admitted to crushing on Bugs Bunny — but only when he was in drag? ;p
but powerful…FreewayBloggers rock…
Hey, all — just steppin’ through in a woodland drive-by (or is it a ‘trudge-by’?) to say hello. I still seem to have all my digits after a truly frosty 24 hrs. Alas, I’m off to the chores, will see if the same holds true a few hours from now.
Enjoy the afternoon, all. Take care of yourselves!
I just saw this at MLW
I know we were talking about her Saturday during book time.
I put a link to the news story in the news bucket.
Yeah, tt’s one of those weird and very unfortunate coincidences.
Thanks for that Andi. What a sad loss.
