I didn’t take any vacation this summer so I have a lot of vacation days to burn up before the end of March (end of our fiscal year) — my company only allows 5 days rollover.
Two short weeks in a row make for a nice break, though.
Oh yeah, not fully done with the shopping, but young asklet already got his. The PC was supposed to be a combined birthday/Christmas present, now he got a cell phone as well.
The older one will get gift cards from H&M and some books.
Same with me except a bunch of extra errands. I didn’t get back from the grocery store until after midnight last night. This is too much running for me.
I like grocery shopping at night because it’s sort of empty and you don’t have those stupid people who leave their carts in the middle of the aisle and then stand there chatting or looking for something.
That is not an exercise regime. That is mandated by all the family and the holiday. You need to do what the doctor said do or we are coming after you!!!!
LOL Online I don’t have to speak it. LOL I do try and learn certain phrases in most languages so I can wish people happy holidays or Merry Christmas in their native language. Just something I started doing when I was in banking back in SF. I have forgotten most of the harder languages but I chalk that up to getting older.
on line translators are not all they are cracked up to be. It was suppose to read “Merry Christmas and happy New Year to You and Your Loved Ones.” At least I tried. LOL and you know it was heartfelt if gramatically insane.
Thanks, refinish. Its in a little corner park just down the street from our house. The streets get pretty quiet here when it snows very much. Most people head for home to hunker down next to the fireplace/wood stove.
It looks like the perfect spot for carolers with the lights and snow. Maybe your neighborhood needs to do a hot cocoa and cookie night as as a group one year to raise funds for a local charity and a chance for the neighbors to get to know each other better.
can you tell I have done fundraising for different things through out most of my adult life. LOL It sort of goes with being a political and civil rights activist. LOL
Morning refinish! Its nice to know we are surrounded by friends at times like these. I’m rather neutral about the holidays. I love visiting the family and the granddems, but I’m always glad to get home where its quiet and “relatively” peaceful 😉
We acquired a new kitty yesterday and the old alpha-cat is NOT pleased!
Since we all know FamilyMan hates to travel and we all would love to meet him in person, I say we have a froggy bottom reunion at the FFamily Estate next year. That small part of ‘Bama would never be the same. LOL
Depends on the type of stuffing and mounting and as I am not a bottom….. ROTFLMAO!!!! I love the way the cafe turns to pure raunch when you and I are together.
The weather changed overnight and it got colder — which wouldn’t take much, it was so warm this week. And it’s gray out. A little snow would help the holiday mood.
while he was ice skating — since he can’t be worse than these kids, he’s going to try to confuse them with kindness. So he bought them all passes to the ice rink, wrote them messages, and is mailing them off. His mood is marginally better.
BTW, he’s never on vacation; he is all kids all the time.
my dad was that way too. It was REALLY annoying when you were his REAL kid and he was still thinking about other people’s kids. I have minimal tolerance for my dad’s former students. Who I run into all the time.
is high up there since I got really sweaty on the walk (even though it was cold) — but it must not be too high because I haven’t managed to take on yet.
Finishing the last 100 pages of omnivore’s dilemma.
Wrapping gifts (we’re going to Cincy tomorrow).
(Jim’s been teaching in this same school district since 1977; we can’t go anywhere without running into former students.)
you were too bundled up for your walk. Or you walked too fast 🙂
I’m going to do laundry, put away all the Christmas wrapping stuff, vacuum, dust — the stuff I used to do every Saturday before last June when all my weekends suddenly went crazy.
Good morning, Andi.
A good, long weekend it is.
I’m taking 2 weeks off so it’s a verrrrry long weekend.
Did you get neat stuff for the asklets?
That sounds great, I’m glad for you.
I can only maje it two long weekends – off Friday and Monday both of them.
I didn’t take any vacation this summer so I have a lot of vacation days to burn up before the end of March (end of our fiscal year) — my company only allows 5 days rollover.

Sounds like a nice christmas indeed. I’m sure eldest asklet will have a very good time deciding how to spend her gift card.
inquiring minds want to know the book list. LOL
I wish you all the nicest Christmas!
I hope you have a lovely holiday season.
Thanks, AndiF,
It is a statue of Louis XIV, the Sun-King…
Le Joyeux Noël et la nouvelle année heureuse à vous et votre ont aimé ceux.
Ooh la la! You are so sexy when you speak french!
ROTFLMAO!!!! I don’t speak it just know how to type into a translator.
Then you are a good faker. 🙂
speaking french or being sexy
Can I jump in to say good morning.
Morning FamilyMan!!!! Please give FMom and Holiday Hug from me and tell all the FFamily I said Happy Holidays!!!
Morning RF. I certainly will and thanks.
You’re welcome. Have Fmom give you a hug from me as well and make sure you give the George and cat an extra treat as well.
Will do. 🙂
Don’t jump. Good morning, FM.
Morning SN. How’s everything at home?
Rather boring, actually. Doesn’t feel like Christmas. But nice anyway. All the xmas company around?
Same with me except a bunch of extra errands. I didn’t get back from the grocery store until after midnight last night. This is too much running for me.
I like grocery shopping at night because it’s sort of empty and you don’t have those stupid people who leave their carts in the middle of the aisle and then stand there chatting or looking for something.
I would not count on empty stores at all until after the holidays.
Have you started your new exercise regime yet?
Sort of. Did a lot of walking up and down isles yesterday.
That is not an exercise regime. That is mandated by all the family and the holiday. You need to do what the doctor said do or we are coming after you!!!!
Morning Family Man, you too, Second Nature. Happy Holidays to you!
well, I am a damn fine romantic…. not sure about sexy… well yes I am and I’m not.
Both. You’re lucky you can’t hear his podcasts or you’d be jumping Jim’s bones afterwards. 😛
LOL And I hate the sound of my own voice.
We all do. Mine sounds so much more substantial inside my own head. 🙂
and I sound a lot more intelligent before it leaves my mouth. LOL
we need to work on your attitude
Poor Miss Andi and that dang dail up.
if we had broadband jim would spend even more time online and less time for quality activities.
LOL Somehow I doubt that when he has such a charming companion to spend his time with.

translated back to English:
The Merry Christmas and the new happy year to you and your are loved those…
on line translators are not all they are cracked up to be. It was suppose to read “Merry Christmas and happy New Year to You and Your Loved Ones.” At least I tried. LOL and you know it was heartfelt if gramatically insane.
It was a nice try and I appreciated it a lot.
Cheers, refinish69!
Joyeux Noël to you as well, Melanchthon! Beautiful photo.
Good morning Andi, ask, Melanchthon! Happy Holidays to you!
Another blah day. If we are going to have wet weather, it would be nice to have some snow to make things pretty.
It certainly would. Here’s a memory from a recent Christmas past.
That’s beautiful!!!!

What a great idea!
can you tell I have done fundraising for different things through out most of my adult life. LOL It sort of goes with being a political and civil rights activist. LOL
Beats the heck out of the mud and mush of this year.
Yes, at least when the ground is frozen I don’t worry about sinking into the mud up to my ankles – or worse – coming up minus a shoe.
Good Morning all!!! Happy whatever you celebrate. LOL
well I belong to the Universal Church Triumphant of the Apathetic Agnostic, I limit myself to celebrating days off from work (or in your case days making very good money).
LOL You are a genious at google search Miss Andi… dail up or not

We acquired a new kitty yesterday and the old alpha-cat is NOT pleased!
LOL That is one of the reason I enjoy my family living in North Carolina and me living in Texas. LOL I don’t visit at holidays on purpose.
good luck with the new kitty
For those who did not see the link last night, here is my holiday podcast. No Poltics just music and memories and holiday wishes.
Holiday Memories and Wishes
Since we all know FamilyMan hates to travel and we all would love to meet him in person, I say we have a froggy bottom reunion at the FFamily Estate next year. That small part of ‘Bama would never be the same. LOL
I get the big bedroom!
I think the majority of us would be spread around the county at motels. LOL
That’s the one were Mr. Wilson our ghost died.
He doesn’t scare me.
He does me! Just think on a cold and stormy night, the wind howling…..
I can imagine that. For all the overflow we could rent out rooms at the best hotel. The Dew Drop In Tavern, Motel and Taxidermy.
as long as my room is not the Taxidermy room. LOL
You don’t want to be stuffed and mounted? Gee, it actually sounds like a dream of yours.
Depends on the type of stuffing and mounting and as I am not a bottom….. ROTFLMAO!!!! I love the way the cafe turns to pure raunch when you and I are together.
We have a gift. 🙂
Yes we do. LOL
I agree on that!
I can’t believe it, but FMom is up and dressed and wants to go out to the farm. I’ve gotta go and get ready.
See ya’ll later.
You two have lots fo fun and we will see ya later
Well cousin virgil gets the rooms mixed up sometimes and he does do cosmetic surgery. 🙂
Cousin Virgil scares me – Mr. Wilson, not so much.
I once stayed at a motel in Clarinda, Iowa whose brochure bragged that they had a separate room for cleaning game.
Mmmm. Not amount of Febreze could mask that smell.
which was way I was grateful for that particular “feature”.
Sounds like a quality place. 🙂
I’ll be sending the dogs ahead so they’ll be the ones to discover all the giant mud swamps.
See ya.
Have a great walk with the pack!!!!
See ya Andi.
The kids and I are taking boxes of clothing and food down to the homeless shelter. Hope everyone has a good day!
And safe driving to all!
Have fun!!!
The weather changed overnight and it got colder — which wouldn’t take much, it was so warm this week. And it’s gray out. A little snow would help the holiday mood.
Is anyone around?
but that close to a round.
Is Jim in a better mood today? Has it dawned on him that he’s ON VACATION!
while he was ice skating — since he can’t be worse than these kids, he’s going to try to confuse them with kindness. So he bought them all passes to the ice rink, wrote them messages, and is mailing them off. His mood is marginally better.

giddy and sniff otoh are wet because they went in the lake and then the big creek.
I thought maybe you’d volunteer to come over here and wrap presents since you’re such a whiz at it.
If you were closer I’d drive over for a wrapping party. But you’d have to be a lot closer 🙂
I’ll keep you virtual company while you wrap though. I’m going to be around so I can actually open the next cafe and host if anyone is around.
I don’t know about tonight though.
but speaking of water I guess I’ll go take my shower.
If you don’t want to mess with the cafe, I’ll open a new one after the shower.
🙂
We had freezing rain … and now it’s just rain, but definitely gloomy.
and not let us know?
If I travelled all that way I’d be so excited I would have told ya … 🙂
on getting you to Indiana instead (you can practice saying ‘howdy’ instead of ‘gday’).
did the regular rain melt the frozen stuff?
Still lots of ice about though. But nature is giving us the gift of a full day of sun on the 25th … haven’t had one of those in a long time.
Come pretend it’s snowing out at the new Winter Cafe.
Unless you’re dada — and have all the snow you need 🙂
