Here’s a pic of my first morning glory this year, just starting to wilt and some of my pretty violas.
Have a good day and serve yourself, the food is on the side buffet.
Just finished watching the Sharks manhandle the Nashville Predators 3-0. 🙂 And decided that for our anniversary gift to each other, we’re going to go to the playoff game on Thursday (our 15th wedding anniversary). Found decent sightline tickets online for $129 each (eeeep!). Hell, we don’t need any more crap around here anyway… 😉
Okay, time to get some work done and recharge the laptop…T-bay at OTT at 3pm my time… 🙂
I am trying to get motivated to go out and get my daughter’s b-day present. She turns 12 on Tuesday. They grow up so fast! I asked her what she wanted for her b-day, but she could only come up with one video game. So I will get that today, but I also bought her and I tickets to go see The Glass Menagerie with Rita Moreno. We’ve done Broadway musicals in the past, but never a real dramatic production. It’s kind of hard to find one that is even remotely appropriate for a young woman. This is a tragic play, but I think she will like it.
I was shy when I was in grade school and I remember feeling relieved that I wasn’t as painfully shy as Laura. And I remember being VERY glad I didn’t have a mother like that.
Of course the fact that it takes place in St. Louis was interesting in and of itself for me. I knew exactly where the high school was that they were talking about.
My daughter is an acting student, so I figured it would be really great if she got to see a real performance. That and the fact that some of my favorite memories are seeing plays with my father at about her age.
Dust drives my sinuses crazy so I’m empathizing. Anyway, you and I can talk about anything but olivia is supposed to be out there learning her new camera so she can dazzle us with wonderful photos (olivia, I’m just kidding, no pressure; really, I have no expectations, none).
I am really watching the game, but I’ve already been playing. So, I got the lenses on! And I’ve taken a bunch of photos — and oh boy oh boy oh boy do I ever have a lot of questions for Jim. I just transferred the pix over over to the computer (so success is measured in many ways, right?), and I’m going to upload a couple …
I just sent you Jim’s email address so you could talk to him directly. ::smiles brightly:: But you can send me emails about asking about animals and I can write things like “Jim knew the boa constrictor would strangle him …”
Howdy!!! was busy with lots of small jobs. LOL sorry I am so late answering. I just finished setting up the external hard drive and downloading all my designs that were trapped on the old computer. LOL
It was a 105mm Nikon Macro. It’s a wonderful lens I’ve had it for about 10 years. It is the hardest lens to use that I own. Whatever is wrong in the image, that lens will show it. But when I get things right, it’s show time.
Your macro lens will do amazing things, but macros are the hardest of all pictures to shoot. You know a puff of wind or a little camera shake can take a perfectly framed and focused shot and scramble it.
I mean if you tried it, we wouldn’t have any wonderful pictures. Oh, we would have pictures and they would be wonderful, but they wouldn’t be Olivia pictures.
But if ya really want to attend slackapalooza, tickets are available.
Thanks, FM. Are you enjoying your AC? We’re in for a hot week and Mr. Nature is out of town so I plan on cranking up our AC and sleeping in my big bed under the covers, blissfully alone. Ahhhhh.
You’ve probably gone through your program to see if anything is wrong, but have you looked through windows explorer. It will usually call up a new drive, I miss also if you have a card reader.
It’s probably not the cable but the camera. But to be sure I’d try another cable, the camera, and another computer. If the camera doesn’t get recognized as new hardware, then there’s a problem with the camera.
LOL well the list for the last few months was a new cpu, a new flat screen monitor, an ipod, a camera, the external hard drive, new speakers, new mic, and a new printer, keyboard and mouse back in the fall.

Happy Anniversary and enjoy the game.
Have a happy anniversary and enjoy many more. Enjoy the game too. Blood on the ice is so much nicer than blood in the house.
Beautiful flowers Diane. I wish my patio looked as good.
Nice to see you. For awhile there I thought time was standing still.
any luck with the camera?
None. I will ply Computer Boy with a steak after his hard weekend and then ask him to troubleshoot.
For awhile there I thought time was standing still.
huh?
Just a veeeeeerrrry slow cafe.
No dancing on the tables or anything?

Congrats on your anniversary CaliScribe!
My daughter went to nationals with a monologue from The Glass Menagerie – the one about the stirrers. She was awesome!
What a great idea for a birthday present – hope you enjoy.
I first saw Glass Menagerie when I was 13 and really enjoyed it. I hope your daughter likes it.
I read it when I was maybe 13 or 14 and loved it. It’s one of the few Tennessee Williams plays that I do like.
Thanks. I thought she might be a bit young, so this helps alot. She is actually very mature for her age.
did to her sons and wake your daughter up with ‘Rise and Shine.’

I’m trying to imagine a shy Mary. Just can’t get a picture of it.
That is so cool!
My daughter is an acting student, so I figured it would be really great if she got to see a real performance. That and the fact that some of my favorite memories are seeing plays with my father at about her age.
It was a beautiful day here — a perfect day, in fact, for a swim.
I love how his tail is standing straight up.
I thought that was a bit peculiar — reminded me of my mother going into the pool when we kids, being very careful not to get her hair wet.
Sniff must be a very fastidious dog. (ha!)
I’ve seen him do and eat, I have great doubts about that.
You posted that picture just to make me jealous.
Oh if I could get George to do that.
Beagles tend to do that so you can see them. That is why the tip of the tail is white.
Hi Refinish. How’s your day going?
How are you both doing?
Hi Olivia. What ya been doing today. Snapping pictures or taking it easy.
I’m doing fine. Tired now, but fine.
btw — did you ever get your mattress replaced/ dried out/ fixed? Or are you still sleeping on the couch?
I’m all done with as far as I’m going to go with work today. Nasty word work.
No my brothers and sister came to the rescue and I got one from one of the spare bedrooms out there.
Actually I came out pretty good on the deal. It’s more comfortable than my old one.
What are you doing?
Your concern moves me Andi. 😛
and I don’t want olivia distracted from taking pictures with the D70.
BTW, dust all gone?
Let me see, number 170 on Andi’s priority list, FM’s dust. Nope, but will be by tomorrow.
I don’t want her to be distracted from it either.
Dust drives my sinuses crazy so I’m empathizing. Anyway, you and I can talk about anything but olivia is supposed to be out there learning her new camera so she can dazzle us with wonderful photos (olivia, I’m just kidding, no pressure; really, I have no expectations, none).
That’s what I love about this place. NO PRESSURE. 🙂
you’ll give her performance anxiety…
(is that possible?). There’s no pressure, none, really. Absolutely not. None at all. Not a bit of it …
Possible?…sure…lots of people do.
And so are you w/ all those nones and nos and absolutely nots…
I’m so fatigued from the whole affair I don’t think I can even compose an legible email.
I’m sorry if I took it too far.
Although there is some truth to the fatigue thing … 🙂
(And sorry I would have replied sooner, but I missed the comment!)
Tied 1-1 in the 2nd pd.
nevah!
— I love that phrase 😉 — to email your questions.
LOL you aren’t getting tired of the whole ‘Jim says’ bit? 🙂
I should forget about my career with mutual of omaha?
It’s like reading a novel in present tense about me (or I should say, my photo questions).
I just sent you Jim’s email address so you could talk to him directly. ::smiles brightly:: But you can send me emails about asking about animals and I can write things like “Jim knew the boa constrictor would strangle him …”
… what a teaser line!
Howdy!!!!!!
Howdy!!! was busy with lots of small jobs. LOL sorry I am so late answering. I just finished setting up the external hard drive and downloading all my designs that were trapped on the old computer. LOL
swim with it straight up before but I think he does always keep the tip out of the water.
I took in a roll of film to be developed — I used it up last weekend. Here’s Max. He was one of my houseguests last weekend.
I’m not going to let Sniff see this — he’s quite the jealous fella.
Well, he was only visiting. It’s not like we’re in a committed relationship or anything 🙂
There’s still room in my life for Sniff.
I don’t know where to jump in so I’ll start down here.
How is everybody?
whadda ya know?
Nutin much.
I love your garden and IVG’s and Olivia’s. Andi and I have brown thumbs. At least we haven’t mangaed to kill off the woods yet.

I’m the same way Jim. Giving me a plant is a sure death sentence.
What lens did you have on for this shot?
It was a 105mm Nikon Macro. It’s a wonderful lens I’ve had it for about 10 years. It is the hardest lens to use that I own. Whatever is wrong in the image, that lens will show it. But when I get things right, it’s show time.

Stopped by for a cool drink then off to start a fire.
Took a wise man’s advise today: Go fly a kite!…Sure!
Took my christmas present for her maiden flight up at the park. She’s a sweet one, although a bit tempestuous. Maybe I should christen her Maryb….Ha!
Here she is:
Lava 7.5′ wing span, Stunt Kite
WAY FUN!
Peace
the New Maryb…yeah, that’s it…
you needed to treat her with more consideration on her maiden flight.
I’m just sayin …
but I was very gentle, if you must know.
dada — you always post the most amazing things! 🙂
I’m partial to amusing myself w/ useless pursuits in the quest of slackdom.
Gotta go for a while
Catch yawl later
Peace
Whoa I was in recent comments and I didn’t see this.
Someone questing for slackdom and I wasn’t there?
I think I’m going to try that whole slacker thing. I think it sounds like a grand idea. 🙂
Thank you Olivia, but you can’t try it.
I mean if you tried it, we wouldn’t have any wonderful pictures. Oh, we would have pictures and they would be wonderful, but they wouldn’t be Olivia pictures.
But if ya really want to attend slackapalooza, tickets are available.
Something like this…
FM
😉
I’m not going to take the bait. 😛
But yea, that’s pretty much it.
I’ll take a ticket then… 😉
Yea I know why you want a ticket, you want to drown me in the mud.
Paranoia and slackdom would seem to be at odds with one another, though I guess you can believe that everybody is out to get but not care.
Andi, psycology and metaphysical together?
Especially after the wonderful low-key bday bash you threw for me, and all your wonderful posts at the blog, and the FMem. 🙂
Yes you’re right. Free tickets for everyone and you get the front row mud pit.
I have a brown thumb too, but fortunately it’s hard to kill hostas.

I like how the drops look like marbles racing along a groove.

SN you are getting so good with your camera. I love those water drops.
Thanks, FM. Are you enjoying your AC? We’re in for a hot week and Mr. Nature is out of town so I plan on cranking up our AC and sleeping in my big bed under the covers, blissfully alone. Ahhhhh.
I love the texture on the top photo. And the reflection of the trees in the water droplets is wonderful.
Does this mean the camera/puter problem is fixed?
No, these are from last week. Still can’t get the camera to talk to the computer and it’s driving me crazy.
You’ve probably gone through your program to see if anything is wrong, but have you looked through windows explorer. It will usually call up a new drive, I miss also if you have a card reader.
My son was saying something about buying a card reader at Best Buy. Wonder if that would help.
I bought one, but only because my brothers and sister had different cards.
I don’t know if it would though. Actually if you can’t see the camera through Explorer, I don’t think it would help.
you can try connecting the camera to? And do you have another camera that you can try connecting to your computer?
Good thought. I tried it in another computer and it didn’t work – proving, what exactly? That the usb cable is bad?
It’s probably not the cable but the camera. But to be sure I’d try another cable, the camera, and another computer. If the camera doesn’t get recognized as new hardware, then there’s a problem with the camera.
You don’t know how much you love AC until you don’t have it. I’m still in the very much in love phase with the AC.
No snoring huh. What will an SN be like with a full nights sleep?
I’m afraid to find out. Maybe I won’t be able to muster my usual snotty wonderfulness.
Now don’t you go changing. Your snotty wonderfulness is one of your best qualities.
That’s a little depressing.
As Andi said, it’s a natural talent. 🙂
like yours can surmount any obstacle.
Wow!
Howdy folks!!!!!
I thought I say hi down here. Got got an external HD.
You’re starting to make me jealous. I want more gadgets.
I have had it for a month and finally used it. LOL
Ah man, you’re just trying to rub it in, aren’t ya.
You just wait. Next time I buy batteries, I’m just going to gloat.
LOL well the list for the last few months was a new cpu, a new flat screen monitor, an ipod, a camera, the external hard drive, new speakers, new mic, and a new printer, keyboard and mouse back in the fall.
But I am not trying to rub it in at all. LOL
and don’t forget the new cell phone. LOL
Oh yes less I forget. I bought rechargable AA batteries today for the camera. LOL
You’re a mean, mean man Refinish. 😛
ROTFLMAO!!!!!! You have to remember my computer equipment was over 8 years old.
Evening refinish. How goes it?
Pretty good and with you?
Not bad. It was a gorgeous day here.
Was a great day here also. got lots of small jobs done so I am pretty satisfied. LOL
Mom just popped in and wants to go get ice cream.
Be back in a minute.
Been there, done that, already feeling guilty about it.
Edy’s french silk.
Nothing is bad in moderation!!!!
Moderation? What is this word, moderation?
It means only half a gallon at a time instead of the entire gallon. LOL
to take advantage of your upbringing, assign yourself a novena for penance, and get rid of that guilt.
I did just start to clean the bathroom, so that might assuage the guilt a little bit.
no purging!!!! LOL
give mom a hug from the folks at the pond
be right back.
and troop on over to the new lounge.
