I’ve been walkin’ in my sleep
Countin’ troubles ‘stead of countin’ sheep
Where the years went I can’t say
I just turned around and they’ve gone away
Countin’ troubles ‘stead of countin’ sheep
Where the years went I can’t say
I just turned around and they’ve gone away
I’ve been siftin’ through the layers
Of dusty books and faded papers
They tell a story I used to know
And it was one that happened so long ago
It’s gone away in yesterday
Now I find myself on the mountainside
Where the rivers change direction
Across the Great Divide
Now, I heard the owl a-callin’
Softly as the night was fallin’
With a question and I replied
But he’s gone across the borderline
It’s gone away in yesterday
Now I find myself on the mountainside
Where the rivers change direction
Across the Great Divide
The finest hour that I have seen
Is the one that comes between
The edge of night and the break of day
It’s when the darkness rolls away

Although that’s probably what will ultimately happen, it’s incredible to see how far the douchebag responsible for the mess in Iraq will go to avoid admitting what he’s done. Remember when he was asked about mistakes he had made as president, and he couldn’t think of a one? I wonder how he would respond to that question today…he’d probably need a straitjacket.

Hmm. do you think this might have a little to do with why the public isn’t buying the “all fear, all the time” Bushco meme anymore?
When you read this in plain sight: “Afghan leader ‘helped Bin Laden’-the boldness of coming forward without fear – then you know we’ve lost not just the WoT – words the Brits have banned; told their diplomats worldwide not to use, that it’s counterproductive.

So, who else is coming to DC on January 27th? Apparently, the media is beginning to notice us…
Women’s beauty routines: maintenance or masochism?
Hilarious. An at-home brazilian wax job? I don’t think so…
OMG, Cabin. Do people really do that stuff? I remember drenching my hair with mayonaisse at 13, and swearing off becoming beautiful at 16 when six hours of lying in the tropical sun put me in the hospital.
Like all our news, this is more scary than funny. Reading it makes me feel like a prohibitionist.
I don’t know…the occassional pedicure is my one concession to high-maintenance living (mostly because I hate to wear shoes), so I’m probably not a good one to ask about people’s willingness to undergo torturous beauty routines.
Condi Rice caught with open mic and in a bind?:
We must give Maliki some breathing space
and the question returns
Will Condi be leaving to write her memoirs? Laura Rozenfinds Al Kamen hinting Condi goes within months .
Well, over the past year some top level diplomats in the Middle East consider her incompetent and after yesterday’s performance high on the bar that she departs.
The CIA in the Dock
I still think the Negroponte move to State was because of Condi’s incompetence and George’s unwillingness to give her the heave-ho.
I’m sure Negroponte is perfectly capable of making Condi want to leave and write her memoirs in a fairly short amount of time.

A new study indicates that nutrients in the soil can strongly influence the distribution of trees in tropical forests. The finding, published this week, challenges the theory that at local scales tree distributions in a forest simply reflect patterns of seed dispersal. Up to half of the species in the study showed an association with one or more nutrients. Differences in nutrient requirements among trees may help explain how so many species can coexist.
An archaeological find in Russia has shed light on the migration of modern humans into Europe. Artifacts uncovered at the Kostenki site, south of Moscow, suggest modern humans were at this spot about 45,000 years ago. The first moderns may have entered Europe through a different route than was previously thought, the international team reports.
You lose a few, you find a few… Don’t feel too bad that we’re eventually going to say adios to the Magellanic clouds: With the prospect of finding dozens of new dwarf systems in our Local Group of galaxies, an international team of researchers from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS-II) has announced the discovery of seven – and perhaps eight – new satellites of the Milky Way. [There, now don’t you feel better?]
Who are you calling a birdbrain? Birds with brains that are large in relation to their body size have a lower mortality rate than those with smaller brains, according to new research…
Citing population growth rates and migration patterns, United Nations researchers and other experts predict that for the first time ever, some time in 2008 more people will live in cities than in rural areas.

in the senate: a bill by Kerry, co-sponsered by Salazar, would strip members of their taxpayer paid pensions was approved today.
First decent thing Salazar’s done…maybe he’s seen the light…nah, an aberration I’m sure.
Wonder if W will veto this one.
