(especially if you’re still on vacation!)
Time to get my butte moving. CBtY is back to school this morning, and I think he’s been up since 5 (way early), thereby proving BooMan’s prediction that he would never be able to get up completely (and fortunately) wrong. I hope he has a good year this year.
In other new, the little guy seems to be getting back to a better sleeping pattern. TFSM! I wonder if it was that nice hike we took together yesterday – I know it made me sleep better.
How is everyone else this morning?
Happy Monday to you also!!! I am hectic as can be as this is my second week of school. I am enjoying it but forgot how much work it is.:) I will share one story on myself. The first day of math class the professor asked did we know what a neanderthal was and without even looking up I called out I had dated a few. I thought she would fall out of her chair laughing.
Too funny. I’m sure your teachers will enjoy having you in class as much as you’re enjoying being there. 🙂
I hope so.:) In Fundamentals of Photography, we have a project later in the term that has to be a series of photos that tell a story and I will not even say what my mind went to first.
LOL, rf!
Good to know that math class will be finally be fun. 🙂
It seems that way. I got an 85 on my first quiz and I’m retaking it Wednesday for a higher grade. My prof thinks I’m nuts but I want a 4.0!!!
Good morning! It already feels like an eternity since vacation. And it seems fall is in the air – only 48 this morning in sunny Geneva.
48 sounds wonderful — our high is going to be about 45 degrees warmer.
Wow, we’re a ways off from 48.
And I know what you mean about vacation seeming an eternity ago. It only took a week for it to become a distant memory for me…
48 would be wonderful. This has been a hellacious summer and it seems never-ending. We’ve had 80 days above 90 (forgive my math but isn’t that the ENTIRE summer?) and about 10 days over 100. And it just keeps going and going and going….
80 degrees here at 7:13. I would like some of that cooler weather.
CBtY slept through the alarm this morning, then complained his way through the rest of the morning (seems he’s surprised that he needs to get his own towel and find his own clothes to wear).
Isn’t that the way for all kids???
Sorry to hear that CBtY wasn’t a hoopy frood this morning.
Sounds like he needs a louder alarm. But interestingly enough, the b2 boy has no trouble getting up when it’s time to watch cartoons, even at 6am.
He had the radio on instead of the bio-disruptor. He won’t be making that mistake again…
CBtY has always been a later sleeper.
b2, here’s the hollow you’d see at the bottom of last week’s picture.

Ooh, nice.
As nice as a baby that sleeps through the night?
Oooh. I love those rays of light. Thanks for the photo, Andi.
You’re welcome. Hope vacation is going splendidly.
It’s going well despite having to change rental cars twice and doing without our luggage for a bit. 🙂
That’s really weird about the cars. But good that those things haven’t caused any problems for the vacation.
Looking forward to more pictures.
the same, or more problems with the luggage?
No, we have the bags. It was just one of several mishaps. Like nearly bald tires on the second of our 3 rental cars. (The first one refused us entry into its trunk.)
Good morning/afternoon!
Still cold nights and sunny, pleasant days here.
Even more pleasant – curly arrives for a long weekend tomorrow morning…
I’m sure it really isn’t necessary to say this but … have a great weekend!
Hehe – she arrived safely this morning. Getting some rest after a sleepless flight while I’m in the salt mine for a few more hours.
Glad she’s already there — I was just going to worry about her getting out before the hurricane weather hit, though it looks like it won’t make anything close to a landfall.
Good to know that we won’t be flying into it.
Oh, have a wonderful time! Im looking forward to some pictures from your adventures. 🙂
BTW, when are you coming back to the states?
Well, the travel budget is getting a bit depleted after vacation. But I am considering a trip around mid-October – low season and reasonable fares by then.
Pictures from our adventures? Hm, maybe from the trip around Lac Leman we’re planning for Sunday… 😉
Lac Leman – perfect!
I think I have a conference in NYC October 8-9…I’d love to meet up with you and curly if that happens t work out.
Nothing firm yet, that weekend or the next are being considered. But curly will be in town in any case.
Good morning all! love the pics!
Hi Errol. Hope the hurricane decides to skip all of you.
thanks, ppl around here seem torn about it – no one can really believe we’ll get a hurricane, so the idea of lower temps, vs. the 95 96 we’ve had all week, is appealing. OTOH it is a hurricane no matter how difficult to grasp that may be
Looks like you won the weather lottery — lower temps, no Earl.
everyone’s saying “where’s the hurricane?” but the temps are not that much cooler, still seem terrible (maybe it’s the humidity)
Ah, too bad on the temps but not getting a hurricane is probably a fair trade.
yes, I think everyone’s ok with missing the hurricane. had ice cream for lunch to compensate for the temps so maybe that’s not bad either.
I was fine without the rain from Earl…and this cool weather is delightful.
glad you’re getting cool weather finally!
Time for a long weekend! Mr Finn is jumping up and down and giggling at the prospect of having his mama home for the duration. 🙂
It’s supposed to clear up tomorrow, in time for the weekend. I hope all our NC and eastern coast folks make it through Earl without a lot of damage.
Clear skies and cooler temps here in flyover country. Hope they are headed your way for the long weekend! I’m off to hang around the Democrat booth at a local outdoor event to do some campaigning & GOTV.
Have fun!
Think you can campaign us some rain? At the rate the trees are giving up, we aren’t going to have any kind of fall color this year.
That and the news that the IU playhouse has been shut down after a 60 year run are a double whammy to the already struggling tourist economy:(
what a shame!
That is really shocking. It’s such a fixture in town. I hope they can find a replacement.
Back at home after a l-o-n-g flight. I’m glad to be off the plane but vacations are too short.
Well, at least you can ease in to it. Two more days off before the regular grind…
Guess you’ll never know if there was a beheaded body in the trunk of your rental car. I’m very curious about that.
We’ll never know for sure but there would have been a great stench in that heat.
Vacations are short but memories are long.
Welcome back home.
Happy No Laboring Day to all who get the day off.

Ahh, the simple pleasure of a cool creek on a warm day!
Good morning/afternoon!
Not a holiday here, but since curly is here I took off.
We had a great day yesterday – the plan was to drive around Lake Geneva, but the road on the south shore was closed just before Evian because some lose boulders had just been spotted up in the mountain side.
So we got to do the north side both ways.
Here a couple of shots from Hautes de Caux, straight up the mountain from Montreux.
A strange haze, but otherwise a great day. View across the lake to the French side. Here at about 4,500 feet altitude.
If you wonder where all that great Swis chocolate comes from…
Sticky keyboard – Swiss….
We skipped the plan for lunch in snooty (but beautiful) Montreux. Even nicer up in the mountain.
At the end of the road – a funicular can take you further, all the way to the summit in the background. We were not really equipped for mountain hiking and only took it two stops further up and walked back. But we’ll be back another time with hiking boots.
Thanks for the glimpse of some very lovely country. I’d say “enjoy”, but it appears you are doing just that! Have a great time!
Thanks – it really is beautiful.
Geneva itself is a bit of a mixed bag. The old town and some neighborhoods are charming.
Here from Place des Nations.
Palais des Nations
Turn 180 degres for this view:

Place des Nations with ITU (International Telecommunications Union) and WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) in the background. I’m not too enamored by the architecture of these office monstrocities. UNHCR, ILO, WHO, UNAIDS and UNICEF are also within a few minutes walk from here.
Handsome fella in a handsome place. The other photos all look really inviting too. Such spectacular mountains — I definitely wanted to get on those trails.
Love it! Thanks for the pics, they’ll give me something more pleasant to think about than my return to the office this morning. 🙂
Those are both beautiful shots!
You’d find plenty of inspiration for your paintings here.
yes I was just thinking about Swiss chocolate!!!! very much enjoying your pics!!!
