When Lily’s wet you can start to see the outline she’ll have once the bouffant hairdoo sheds out.

Abandoned puppies left to die.
This was the best laugh I have had in days – thank you!
You should have seen the pitiful looks I kept getting.
As if the temperate weather of the Apple Isle (Tasmania’s nickname) in any way rivals the winters of the Pyrenees mountains (where their antecedents have thrived for four-thousand years).
Oh, and on rainy days when I do let them in, and towel them dry, they usually want out again within a half-hour. After about the twelfth towel, I draw the line.
And I forgot to mention – they have a huge dog house (I can comfortably stand or lay down inside it).
“After about the twelfth towel, I draw the line. “
Oh you are sooo harsh 😉
Yes, yes I am. But, when you realize it takes two towels per dog, they do add up quick.
Which wouldn’t be a big problem except that like most Australians we line dry our laundry (clothes driers are very rare here). So wet days mean lots of towels hanging on metal racks by the wood stove.
If you look closely in the photo below of Lily outside the door, in the lower left hand corner you can see the reflection of a colorful pile of towels just inside the threshold.
So — I have to ask this —
Have you Australians/Tasmanians a way to line dry jeans that doesn’t turn said jeans into torture instruments, or a way to line dry towels that doesn’t make drying yourself after your shower like rubbing your skin with moderately abrasive sandpaper?
I ask not merely out of theoretical interest.
Where we live it’s very windy, so line dried doesn’t necessarily mean stiff as a board. As for the towels, pop for the extra fluffy Egyptian cotton ones and they won’t get scratchy.
Please?
With a face like that how can you say no? 🙂
Yes to the face, but the feet over-rule that sentiment with four “nos”.
Maybe you should get some little doggie galoshes and that would solve the whole towel problem. Of course you’d have to get a doggie raincoat and hat. I wonder if they have anyway of making a doggie umbrella. 😉
I’d give doggy galoshes, raincoats, etc. (which you can actually get in some pet stores) about thirty seconds before they would be reduced to shreds of doggy-mauled plastic.
Yep but for that 30 seconds they would be the best dressed dogs around.
so cute. “That’s right,” the man said. “I couldn’t remember the word.” He was the only t, then high school students, and, finally, to anyone aged 13 and over. We actually saw three bears but they did not move at a snail’s pace.
Run! Run for your lives!
I can’t hear about someone seeing bears in the wild without thinking about that hilarious chapter in Bill Bryson’s A Walk in the Woods. Neither of you had a backpack full of Snickers bars by any chance?
Stellar photo, Andi.
No snickers — they must have been attracted to our sweet selves. 🙂
Getting pictures of snails — definitely one of the easier tasks in the world of photography. And this one was really big so that made it even easier.
They were probably laying an ambush for our Montana Monster Cookies. But when they realized they were just smelling an empty wrapper (The cookies were delicious.), they left in disappointment.
Oooooh, I didn’t know those were the same Monster cookies they have at Whole Foods. God, they are good. So densely packed with fat and sugar…..
They have those at whole foods? MMM.
oooh, whole foods? Faster than ordering them.
I suddenly feel an urgent need to go there today…they would be very helpful in getting my homework assignment done and submitted today.
mmmm. Fond memories of my drive back from Indiana. I should order some of them.
Still overcast, but less rainy today.
Oh, they’re so clean I almost didn’t recognize them. 🙂
