Hard to choose, but the mist here in SE PA this morning made me pick this one.
I hope everyone is well. We have had a lot going on…knocking doors, getting a young man ready to go on a month long hiking and canoeing trip, new intern at work, busy Finny man…
Hope all is well with everyone!
That’s a great choice for the cafe photo.
Month long hiking and canoeing trip sounds amazing! Where is he going?
The Mobile-Tensaw delta, the second largest river delta in the US, and the Talladega National forest along the southern edge of the Appalachians. Unlike anything he’s ever done, although summer paddling camps over the years have given him some canoeing and kayaking experience.
He’s all packed and has a very early flight, so I better get to bed…
Hope he has a great time and brings back lots of pictures for us to ooh-and-ah over.
I hate to admit this, but he refused to take a camera. I’m hoping the course instructors give us a cd of the pictures they take on the trip like they did with CBtE.
That’s a bummer. I hope he gets some pictures from somewhere because they are such a great way to keep your memories fresh.
What a great adventure for a young man.
Maybe this is appropriate for the occasion.
From Canoe Meadows, Berkshires, MA
Fantastic, I know exactly where this is. Mrs. X is from Pittsfield. Still have family there.
curly’s mother has an apartment between Lenox and Pittsfield, only a 5-min drive over to the meadows.
These are from a trip we made up there just over 2 weeks ago. Farmer’s Market + Canoe Meadows
That looks cool.
How is asklet enjoying his school, btw?
He loves it!
Girlfriend in Oslo.
So far (apart from occasional actual school):
coming up before x-mas, 1-week excursion to Stockholm.
It’s like a one-year combined summer/winter camp.
Sounds amazing! Can I go there?
We heard from OB that CBtY has arrived safely, passed his swimming test, and was settling in for a cold night of camping (in the 30s in Alabama last night). We won’t hear much again until next week, when he’s been there for a week…
60s yesterday, rainy and cold today in the Hudson Valley. But, as they say, at least it’s not snow.

I’m seeing that polar bear scene again. 😉
This is an amazing picture! I will have to post a new cafe more often just so I can use it!
It would be nice to have a new cafe before we reach a gazillion comments. 😉
But we’re only at 19 right now… 🙂
So we’ll know how close we are to a new cafe once we figure out what fraction of gazillion
192021 is.It certainly appears that the summer drought didn’t diminish our colorful hardwoods in the least. Beautiful photo!
The only effect of the drought we saw was that the leaves started turning 2-3 weeks earlier than usual. In fact, this was one of the most colorful falls we’ve ever had — the large amount of red was especially notable.
Ours was pretty colorful but quite brief. It was just a handful of days.
