I feel like West Virginia will set the record this year for worst choices in a gubernatorial election. It’s ridiculous.

Heh, heh, Another billionaire deadbeat.
Has he disclosed his tax forms?
Which of the two gets the I-like-a-scoundrel vote?
I don’t even have to read the linked article to know that whatever’s wrong is the fault of Hillary Clinton.
All roads lead to Rome.

Waiting for the DNC and DC Dems to begin screaming “But he’s not even a Democrat” about Justice. Of course they won’t — because disaffected Republicans seem to be quite welcome in the Democratic Party today.
And Justice’s opponent is a standard issue GOP:
Ah, yes. The anti-Tesla protectionism.
And DNC does love those self-funders. Might have a lot to do with their recruiting bidnessmen.
Tesla: the automobile choice of the proletariat.
the lumpen ones
Only aspirationally. Tesla is for the bourgeoisie.
If a disaffected Republican wants to switch parties and get behind the Democratic program, I see no problem. Whether that’s the situation in West Virginia is questionable to say the least.
Well why not — the current DNC/DLC/third way Democratic program was once the GOP program. That’s what I have a problem with because that goes to the core of why I was never a Republican. You’re not so clear and that explains why you don’t have a problem with the program or welcoming Republicans to your party.
Maybe you better read the story. This guy, like Trump, is sui generis.
Another failed attempt at irony by yours truly.
Oh no Joel, it was not a failure. I got it right away.
But parody is REALLY hard right now. It’s like attempting a stand up routine at Jonestown.

My mother came from West Virginia and we have many relatives living there. My grandfather and two of my uncles were coal miners. Having been there recently, I know that the state is desperate and losing jobs like crazy. People who made their living from the coal industry aren’t the only ones suffering: small businesses who supplied goods and services are also struggling. My cousin ran a small convenience store and had to close it (not sell it) because no one had money to buy from her. My uncle says on Beckley, which had been on the upswing, is going to be a ghost town.
So it’s no wonder the people there would pin their hopes on a coal man, no matter how dishonest and rotten he might be. It’s like a microcosm of Trump in the US, on a smaller scale. People glom onto success stories and they want to believe a rich businessman can save them.
I don’t know what the solution is for states like West Virginia and Kentucky, where coal has been the main source of jobs and development. But brash, rich, dirty billionaires probably won’t work.
Neither will Wall Street Deomcrats. I’m sorry for your family, Donnah. They are dying like my family. It’s past time that blue collar workers, white collar workers, professionals and small businessmen like your cousin abandoned the Democratic Party that hasn’t represented us for over quarter century. We need to form a party of the 99% and put a stake through the heart of the corrupt Democratic Party.
TarHeelDem has pointed out that it’s not easy. But the Republicans did it a hundred and fifty years ago. The first step is to not vote for the lesser evil. They have to be good (not perfect, but good) or no votes.
Call me when they have Charlie Crist vs Voldemort. WV can’t hang.
Admittedly, we’re still better off, in that we don’t have to live in WV, but still.
My daughter maintains that Voldemort wasn’t evil, just misunderstood.
She is not alone, it’s a common belief:
misunderstood
.
you get what you vote for…
eh.
This.
I know WV is screwed by their past. But places like Wisconsin voted for Walker THREE times. No way that happens without members of Unions that he wants to bust voting for him.
They vote for them because they agree with them.
Same with Trump. It won’t be because it’s some obscure protest vote, or some economic protest, or because it’s a strike against the plutocrats and oligarchs. It will be because they agree with his racists positions.
.
We had two good choices, and they collectively got fewer votes than Justice. We had a public radio governor’s Dem candidate forum and Justice had nothing but Trumpian platitudes. Breaks my heart, but he is still marginally better than Cole.
Yes! Vindicated! It’s exactly like the upcoming Clinton vs. Trump contest. Clinton is marginally better than Trump even though she has been spouting Trumpian platitudes.
Y’all have heard those Trumpian platitudes from Clinton, right? About border walls and mass deportations and bans on Muslims and assassinating families of terrorist suspects, for example?
Back in the saddle trying irony again?
Good luck!
