It has to be Eric ‘with a K’ Erickson:
It was Clarence Thomas who talked about the high tech lynching the left put him through during his confirmation battle. The left went straight for the pubic hair on the coke can — forget everything about his qualifications, intelligence, or jurisprudence. He had to be stopped.
Right. Because no one discussed Clarence Thomas’s lack of qualifications, intelligence, or moderation during his confirmation hearings. Erickson is trying to defend South Carolina gubernatorial candidate Nikki Haley against charges that she had an extramarital affair with a right-wing blogger. But the charges are coming from the right-wing blogger. So, what does ‘the left’ have to do with it? That does not make sense.
…ladies and gentlemen of this supposed jury, I have one final thing I want you to consider. Ladies and gentlemen, this is Chewbacca. Chewbacca is a Wookiee from the planet Kashyyyk. But Chewbacca lives on the planet Endor. Now think about it; that does not make sense!
Why would a Wookiee, an eight-foot tall Wookiee, want to live on Endor, with a bunch of two-foot tall Ewoks? That does not make sense! But more important, you have to ask yourself: What does this have to do with this case? Nothing. Ladies and gentlemen, it has nothing to do with this case! It does not make sense! Look at me. I’m a lawyer defending a major record company, and I’m talkin’ about Chewbacca! Does that make sense? Ladies and gentlemen, I am not making any sense! None of this makes sense! And so you have to remember, when you’re in that jury room deliberatin’ and conjugatin’ the Emancipation Proclamation, does it make sense? No! Ladies and gentlemen of this supposed jury, it does not make sense! If Chewbacca lives on Endor, you must acquit! The defense rests.
Dang libruhls.
Thanks a heap, Boo. You induced me to wallow on over to try and figure out some gossip I couldn’t give a tinier damn about, all to no avail. So tell us: what does this blogger want? What do lawyers have to do with it? All I could see is that a couple of bimbos had themselves an ugly little fuck, maybe. Who cares, and why is it a legal matter?
well, the woman was on track to be the next governor of the
Appalachian trailSouth Carolina. But what I can’t seem to find out is, what do lawyers have to do with it? Especially from the blogger side?
The blogger is a conservative blogger who considers himself a kingmaker in the SC GOP circles. He made the allegation; she denied it. He produced text messages from several people that seemed to show the allegation was true. I guess it’s now going in the direction of a defamation of character lawsuit or something.
Blogger’s possible motives in order: (1) Ego as da kingmaker; (2) Revenge for not leaving the other guy; (3) Carrying water for another GOP candidate for governor (Andre Bauer? – did he sleep with that candidate too?)
Good news for Jim Rex or Vincent Shaheen that the “family values” party is in meltdown.
So he’s charging her with defamation because she denies he screwed her? I’m starting to seriously wonder if, like the folks on Lost, I’m actually dead and working through my failings by means of absurdist fantasy. (A theory somewhat buttressed by the spell checker thinking I meant to say Kurdistan fantasy.)
Or he’s lawyering up in anticipation of her suit.
Context is everything. The Coke can had to do with sexual harassment of staff of the Civil Rights Commission, whose mission includes preventing sexual harassment. And there was a second former employee of the Civil Rights Commission ready to testify against him, but she was never called by the Judiciary Committee.
It wasn’t about a Coke can. It was about failure to perform the mission of the agency he headed.
Well, it was about illegal sexual harassment. This thing seems to be about some obscure blogger hitching his dick to a fading political star. Pretty much par for the course among the Family Values crowd, to the point of being tedious.
Nikki Haley’s star wasn’t fading until the blogger came forward. Indeed, she was beginning to be the frontrunner. See any motive there?
