(Times Online) – Six of the nine passengers killed in an Israeli raid on an aid convoy bound for Gaza were shot by a single Israeli commando, who is being considered for a medal of valour for saving his injured comrades as passengers attacked them with clubs, knives and even guns they had taken from downed Navy Seals.
The Israeli commando who killed six of the passengers of Mavi Marmara, the Turkish ferry owned by the IHH charity, said that he had been the last of 15 soldiers to rappel down the rope from an overhead helicopter on to the decks of the ship, which he described as “a battlefield”.
Identified for security reasons only as Staff Sergeant S, he said that contrary to initial Israeli Army reports, the shooting had started within minutes as he and his comrades were set upon by a “mob of mercenaries”.
“When I hit the deck, I was immediately attacked by people with bats, metal pipes and axes,” the sergeant recalled. “These were without a doubt terrorists. I could see the murderous rage in their eyes and that they were coming to kill us.”
Lt. Col. T.: “S. did a remarkable job”
(Jerusalem Post) – S. does not look like a hero. Well-built, like all commandos in the Shayetet, he is also soft-spoken and stingy with words, but his commander Lt.-Col. T. fills in the blanks.
“S. did a remarkable job,” T. said. “He stabilized the situation and succeeded in hitting six of the terrorists.”

They lie with that murdered activist who was willing to physically defend a humanitarian effort to break a barbaric and oppressive blockade. That he was an American citizen is of no consequence. The Israeli military has killed Americans before and they’ll do it again. I don’t think they’re too awfully pressed about the nationalities of those they execute.
Pointless to waste allegiance on a country that is a cohort and enabler of Israel’s crimes. Does that 19 year old’s own country give a shit about him? Why would anyone expect this country to hold Israel accountable for his murder? He was on the ‘wrong’ side.
Defend him because he was a free citizen of the planet who committed himself to the defense of a defenseless people. There are many like him who happen not to be American citizens. Their blood all runs red.
The world, unlike America, is outraged about these deaths. I think if asked before his death where his own loyalties lied, America would not top this young man’s list. It hardly deserves it.
Israel is SO fucked!!!
The only remaining question is whether the US is going to go down with it.
And perhaps take he rest of the world down by doing so.
