My love for John Prine will be undying. It hurts to see him age, but he’s still got it.

Angel from Montgomery is one song that’s stuck in my head for years.
I had the pleasure of seeing John Prine this year at the Spirit of the Suwanee Music Park during Spring Fest, their annual bluegrass festival. Holy cow, he blew me away. Toss up between him and Del McCoury Band for my favorite, but Prine was definitely the biggest draw. Everyone there knew his tunes and it sounded great.
While we’re at it-Iris DeMent’s moving eulogy to the disappearing way of life is that driving many of HRC’s “deplorables” to Trump’s promises. Blame Trump if you must, but many of his supporters have felt this same deep sadness as they have watched their towns…and their lives…disappear into the insensate maw of the global economy so beloved by the controllers.
Oppose them if you think it’s right…but do not hate them. Robots comin’ to take your jobs….sooner rather than later if you support the globalists.
The ultimate “cheap labor.”
Bet on it.
Stop, look and listen, And then think!!!:

Beautiful, Arthur. Thanks also for reminding us to oppose the behavior of those who would support a guy like Trump but not the person. There but for the grace of God . . . particularly for those of us who came up the hard way.

Thank you. Saw him with a relatively unknown Nanci Griffith in the early 90s in Joliet. Amazing. Coincidence saw a poster today he’s playing in Davenport, IA in a couple of weeks. I’m there.
I adore Nancy Griffin. Discovered her when I was going through a difficult break-up. Her songs kept me sane. “When it Don’t Come Easy” kept reminding me that the relationship was never gonna work.

Maybe this will work better
Nanci Griffith /= Patty Griffin
Apparently he’s doing gigs with Jason Isbell.
I was able to buy a t-shirt to that effect, if not a ticket.
listening to that.
Think I recall reading some time back about some physical issue (vocal chord nodes, throat cancer, something?) that had already impacted his voice. Here, he can only croak an approximation of the melody line.
“In spite of [all that]”, I’ve always loved his version with Iris of that song. Loved this, too.
Thanks.
Old people just grow lonely….
Ahhh yes. I see what you did there. Bravo, JLG!
When I was a senior in high school, a long long time ago, my Government teacher (Virginia required seniors to take a course in “Government”) had a gathering for us at a local Holiday Inn.
He had arranged for a very young John Prine to drive in from Richmond and give a private show to his senior class.
I have never forgotten it.
Damn. I’d never have forgotten that either. When and where in Virginia was that?
Many, many, MANY years ago, Rolling Stone gave Prine one of the many accolades it had assigned him over its early years, which usually alluded to the huge success he was about to achieve. But he never quite made it to the level he deserved, and on this occasion they said, after this he was "on his own" (as I recall the quote). He kept on being brilliantly and humorously insightful about the human condition; I stopped reading and lost track of Rolling Stone.
Two favorites … make you cry, boy …
Christmas in Prison:
Justin Townes Earle doing John Prine’s Far From Me:
Please ask John Prine to compose a sequel to Steve Goodman’s ‘A Dying Cub Fan’s Last Request’ to celebrate Cub’s victory and honor Steve Goodman.
Love Prine also!
