Take a moment of silence to honor those lost in this madness they call a war.
Take a moment to remember the life style we once had.
Take a moment to face the one’s responsible for this madness.
Then take both hands, reach around and firmly grab yourself by the butt cheeks, and carry your happy ass to the mirror, and face the one responsible……
Only WE can make the difference….DON’T ask, DEMAND for our lives, rights, that have been so heinously sacrificed, and TAKE BACK those valubles so dear to all of us.
I keep reminding myself that no matter how this turns out, he’s 13 and he’s had a great life being the slowest dog in the universe who never, ever, never got enough food in his dish.
Morning Andi, IP, CG, Indy, FM, Olivia and all… just wanted to chime in by sending my best vibes to Hopeful today… I just learned last night that he was in for surgery, Andi, and I know how you’re feeling. Let’s hope for the best results possible, though it will be a very tough day for all of you, I’m sure.
Will be thinking of you all, and hope to learn some good news later when you know more…
Alas, time to knuckle down here at work, so everyone have as good a day as possible!
There are very few shows I like and watch anymore, but they’re all on opposite one another on Thursday. Except for Brothers and Sisters which I lurve on Sunday.
Finished the new book monday and I’m doing clean-up on it now. I’ve got another deadline project that starts next week. That’s good, but keeps me underwater for a bit longer. If I can get 50,000 words in between now and the end of March the pressure will be significantly reduced and I might get my lazy mornings back. In the meantime, let’s go for Keemun Mao Feng for today’s tea, since I love the Keemuns. It’s supposed to be dark and sweet with some coco like accents. Yum.
Off to the doctor for some female stuff. Then thinking about heading over to the cemetery — today is the 2nd anniversary of my mom’s death, so I should take some flowers or something, but not sure if I’m up to it emotionally. Been in a really down mood this week — I think celebrating mom-in-law’s 75th birthday sorta hit home, as I realized that the spouse still has both his parents and I have none. Guess you’re never too old to feel like an orphan.
Got a ton of crap to get done around here…but can’t seem to get up the incentive to do any of it. Ah well…it’ll get done eventually…
Have a great day, folks — heading out the door shortly…
to everybody for their good thoughts. He just got out of surgery and the vet says he did great — all the skin cancer was removed and his spleen is clear so he’s looking forward to getting back to his favorite activity.
Still doing the same. I go to the grocery store this afternoon to try a new dry dog food.
I found out this morning just how spoiled he is. I know he won’t go out when it’s wet outside, but this morning he wouldn’t go out because it was cold. Usually in the morning, I can just open the door and he goes and comes right back in. Today he made sure I put my coat on and went outside with him.
Good luck on the dog food hunt. I have to say that if I was used to eating Italian food and then was given wet dog food, I’d probably try anything for the Italian food again. 😉
Just a quick howdy, then back to the salt mines. Dry dog food is the way to go FM… there are formulations for smaller dogs that are easier for them to eat (e.g. smaller pieces) or maybe you could try some of the semi-moist stuff if he just refuses to eat the dry. But again, mixing a bit of something enticing w/the dry can help, as long as you don’t have to do it all the time.
Hmm, wonder if Beano would have any effect on dogs? But you know, the older one gets, the more cantankerous one’s nether regions can be… and George is getting up there right?
Pepa is kinda cute when she lets one rip sometimes… we’ll hear a small “whooshing/tooting” noise and she acts surprised and turns around to check it out … Reminds me of that old Ren and Stimpy episode “Son of Stimpy,” where Stimpy farts and explains it to Ren… “It made a noise… it came out of my butt … and it smelled funny!” Ah, memories of great cartoons of yesteryear!
Yeah George turned 11 on New Years Eve. I can never tell the look George has on his face when he does that to me because his back end is always pointing at me when he does. But I would think he has an “I’ll show you look.”
I was a dumbass and left my cell phone that day in my friend’s car so the shirt was my saving grace to keep me from getting lost in the crowd. Not that we were running a marathon or anything 😉
Woo-hoo Hopeful! Andi, glad to hear he came out of it just fine … when I heard I immediately thought the worst… that he might have Mast Cell tumors (which is what got my dearest Coco back in 94) and the prognosis for that is rarely good. But it sounds like, from what you said, that he’s got great chances of a full recovery! WHEW. For you and all of us dog lovers around here!
Heya Manny! Glad to see you peeking in … great post you have up at your place today… finally got over there again after a long absence.
Ok, the big bad impending “study from hell” hit here today, so gotta get back to work. Just wanted to help Andi celebrate the good news… YAY Hopeful!!!
Thanks for dropping by to celebrate. Hope work eases up soon so you’ll have more time to spend being unproductive (or at least say your productivity for gardening)
thx for the kind words, my blog went silent last week due to life hiccups but hopefully now things will get back to some form of normalcy. Hope you’re doin’ good.
Tell me about the life hiccups and blogs… mine’s been having a bad case for quite some time, though I’m slowly getting back into it… next time you’re overheated, head on over for a cooling look at the megacicle we had on our house last week… that’ll cool ya down!
Btw, have I told you how much I like the 3.0 look over at your place? Very classy. AS IF I’d expect anything less from you!
Just had a first cousin drop by. After his mother passed away he was going through her stuff and found an old home movies one of my uncles made. Vintage 1956. He had copies made and dropped off one to us. It’s got a little FM on there looking as confused then as now. 🙂
You know how things go sometimes. I talked to Cabingirl a few moments ago and I was happy but as I was about to turn the computer off I started sobbing. I guess I just need some closure of sorts or something because there were some people here who gave me a hand up at some very low moments. Take good care. Be well.
Now, I need help. I turned on my car radio and heard something like this —- a small dose of LSD can have a tremendous effect.
HUH? Did someone slip Bush a tab in his Tab? Is Libby using the LSD defense? Or is this Brittany Spears’ newest drug problem? HELP! I need to know. It’s going to haunt me forever.
researchers think they’ve figured out the mechanism that makes LSD work and this is good because it will help with developing other psychotropic drugs.
Ok, thank you, andi. I kind of wish I’d been right on one of the other things, I’m surprised they didn’t know how it worked. Kidspeak is very dubious. She says bio-chemists have known how it worked since the early 80’s at the latest. The military was doing experiments on US troops with LSD between Korea & Viet Nam. My Best friend in HS was doing practical research on it between 2nd & 3rd period and that was in the early ’70s.
Hang in there, Hopeful! (That sounds like a chapter heading by John Irving.) My favorite cat had “Ear Cancer” a few years back. The small tumors were removed and he’s been fine since then. Now if only he would lose about 15 pounds, but who am I to talk.
Or try to sneak out when he’s asleep — he’s a really deep sleeper. I just have to figure out how to keep Giddy quiet (she gets excited and barks when I put on the boots because, you know, we never go for walks in the woods).
Just finished my third one. I think I’m getting as addicted to them as FMom.
I haved the same problem with George. He starts this high pitched whine when I get ready to take him out. I don’t see how anyone can stay asleep when he starts.

It’s OUR war…remember that
Hi IP! Good to see you-
Hi ANDiF ad FM! One more day till El Paso…
and probably won’t have time to do a side trip to carlsbad caverns.
I just sent Hopeful off with Jim to get his surgery. Let the worrying begin. 🙁
Aww, smooches to the pooches. I hope everything goes as well as possible.
I keep reminding myself that no matter how this turns out, he’s 13 and he’s had a great life being the slowest dog in the universe who never, ever, never got enough food in his dish.
“never, never, never got enough food in his dish”
Sounds like our Dumbledore, the eating-est dog in the world. 🙂
that hopeful would happily eat until he explodes.

I hope everything goes well with hopeful today. I’m sure it will, but you can’t help the worrying.
I’m just excited to see my guy on Saturday. I miss him.
Have a safe trip!
and hope that CBtE had an even better one (and that Surly Boy becomes a very rare visitor to the cabin).
Sending good thoughts as well … and crossing all appendages … 🙂
Hey Andi, good doggies wishes coming your way.
Have been thinking of your two wolves diary the last few days … It’s good to see your words here today … especially these days … {{IP}}
Good morning Andi and IP and what Andi said IP.
Looking at the happy hour ii cafe, it looks like everybody went to bed after veronica mars.
after veronica mars what else is there to do?
Nah, Boston Legal keps me up.
stinks and Lost has gotten boring, Veronica Mars is the only show that I am compelled to watch.
There are very few shows I like and watch anymore, but they’re all on opposite one another on Thursday. Except for Brothers and Sisters which I lurve on Sunday.
mythbusters — I do love it. We have a tivo season pass on it so we watch it whenever we want.
Finished the new book monday and I’m doing clean-up on it now. I’ve got another deadline project that starts next week. That’s good, but keeps me underwater for a bit longer. Good morning again everyone.
Right after I put my first comment up I dozed off. Andi I hope everything goes good with Hopeful. Sending good thoughts.
will turn out okay…

Get home soon … your bed is just waiting for you!
🙂
Jim will pick him up after school so he won’t even have to spend the night at the vet.
Nothing better than recuperating in one’s own bed. 🙂
That’s great to hear Andi. When you get a chance give him an extra treat from me.
And how’s your furry little dude doing today?
Still doing the same. I go to the grocery store this afternoon to try a new dry dog food.

He’s very spoilable.

Yep George is smarter than he looks. 🙂

Don’t work to hard and slack when possible.
Good idea on the extra — he didn’t get breakfast this morning so I’m sure he’s in severe food deprivation.
I wasn’t aware of the surgery due to the trip and laptop issues but definitely happy to know everything turned out okay.
Hi everyone!
Hi Manny good to see ya. I really enjoyed your pictures and post over at your blog. I’m glad you got to go to DC.
You would be proud to know that we spent the first hour of our time together slacking on the grass, awaiting more bodies to take the IMPEACH photo. 🙂
I am impressed and proud of you all. Spreading the slacking message to DC is worthy of the Slacking Hall of Fame. 🙂
Come on, FM. Congress is the home of the slackers! The Senate is slacker Heaven.
I agree on that, but there a good slack and a bad slack.
Luke, the dark side. 🙂
What FM said … Loved seeing your smiling face and your bright green shirt. 🙂
I was a dumbass and left my cell phone that day in my friend’s car so the shirt was my saving grace to keep me from getting lost in the crowd. Not that we were running a marathon or anything 😉

Glad you’re back in business. We missed ya.
yeah, blogging was backburnered recently with a perfect storm of slacking, work chaos and the impending death of my beloved Joshua (laptop).
I’m off to grab some lunch, I’ll see yawl around later.
Paz
Quick de-lurk to celebrate. Lots of treats for him tonight I hope.
Yay Hopey! I just gave Hopeful, Jr. a bellyrub to celebrate.
What’s with the “hemroid” diary? Maybe George wrote it.
Nope not George. He prefers Prep. H.
I don’t know about the diary. Didn’t someone put up a commercial type diary a little while ago?
I don’t think it’s a commercial diary – maybe someone implying that we’re all assholes. Well, most of us. Not me, of course.
For a political site it is kind of odd to have a diary about roids. However, we have the cafe too, so I guess anything is fair game.
Are you still having fun with the laptop?
i’m actually having fun with a couple of laptops this week. And that’s all I’m sayin.
Just had a first cousin drop by. After his mother passed away he was going through her stuff and found an old home movies one of my uncles made. Vintage 1956. He had copies made and dropped off one to us. It’s got a little FM on there looking as confused then as now. 🙂
Awwww! Were you already 8 feet tall?
Nope I think at around that time I was just 5 feet tall. Didn’t really start growing until I was 8. 😛
Great news!
For Hopeful. That’s great, Andi.
Hiya Kelly. Glad to hear you’ve gotten through with your latest project and have a little slack time.
You know how things go sometimes. I talked to Cabingirl a few moments ago and I was happy but as I was about to turn the computer off I started sobbing. I guess I just need some closure of sorts or something because there were some people here who gave me a hand up at some very low moments. Take good care. Be well.
I hope it’s a temporary goodbye.
I’ll see you at Orange.
What Mary said Tracy and be well.
Yes, I agree!
First of all, hello everyone.
Hi Teach
Can’t help you on that one. All I can say is pretty colors. 🙂
researchers think they’ve figured out the mechanism that makes LSD work and this is good because it will help with developing other psychotropic drugs.
Ok, thank you, andi. I kind of wish I’d been right on one of the other things, I’m surprised they didn’t know how it worked. Kidspeak is very dubious. My Best friend in HS was doing practical research on it between 2nd & 3rd period and that was in the early ’70s.
apparently they didn’t understand the exact chemistry of how the hallucinations were caused. Here’s a story on the study.
Thanks, andi. The brain-stuff is KS’s turf, so I’ll pass the link on to her.
Hang in there, Hopeful! (That sounds like a chapter heading by John Irving.) My favorite cat had “Ear Cancer” a few years back. The small tumors were removed and he’s been fine since then. Now if only he would lose about 15 pounds, but who am I to talk.
and now he’s home, he’s drunk a couple of gallons of water, had dinner and is snuggling with the wood stove.
How are you and Jim doing, and what about Giddy and Sniff … do they sense something’s up?
I also wanted to compliment you on today’s photo … knowing how much you suffered to bring it to us as well. Have your fingers thawed yet?
I really like the way the hills converge in the middle of the frame and way the shadow zig zags up the hill.
Giddy and Sniff were all excited when Hopeful got out of the car (or they were just happy it wasn’t them).
I like the photo, too 🙂 — though I don’t think it’s anything special but I liked the way the snow stops where the shade ends.
Didn’t notice that … 🙂 And now looking closer, it’s layered w/ colour: blue, reddish brown, white
So are they leaving him to rest now? What’s his recovery regimen … is he wearing one of those collars?
and arthritic — he doesn’t have to wear a collar because he’s too stiff to reach it.
He’s not allowed to go for walks and he’s got painkillers. He’s not going to be happy when we go for a walk and he’s left in the house.
how long is that in effect
if it was until the stitches come out (10 days) — which is awfully long so I think not — anyway, I’m going to call tomorrow to find out.
Poor Hopeful. Do you think before you go for a walk you could give him a pain killer and then tell him later he went out too?
That was a fast errand.
Doesn’t take that long to pick up fudgesicyles.
How’re you doing tonight?
Just getting dinner ready … Nothing too exciting.
Whatcha having for dinner? Do you do the it’s Wednesday night so we have this every Wednesday?
Or try to sneak out when he’s asleep — he’s a really deep sleeper. I just have to figure out how to keep Giddy quiet (she gets excited and barks when I put on the boots because, you know, we never go for walks in the woods).
Just finished my third one. I think I’m getting as addicted to them as FMom.
I haved the same problem with George. He starts this high pitched whine when I get ready to take him out. I don’t see how anyone can stay asleep when he starts.
or something — I’m going to go open a new cafe.
Great minds Andi. 🙂
Just got notified of an errand. Gotta get more fudgesicyles.
Back later.
I had to go get my glasses. I thought you were getting more fungicide. I thought it had to do w/George’s problem.
