Today is the anniversary of Louis Armstrong’s birthday on 4 August 1901. It would do us all a lot of good to pay attention to the great Americans that have preceded us. This is a link to his biography. I’m sure his music is available somewhere but it eludes my modest technical skill to share it with you.
Try to find a tune of Satchmo’s and settle down for a listen. It really IS a wonderful world.
Is there any interest out there in the cyber frog pond in having a Friday night jazz discussion, like the weekend painting and book discussions?
To gauge interest, if you’re interested recommend this diary.

Not quite sure how to “get with it” tho, maybe you can help, Captain…
Maybe you could start out by singing Wat a wonderful world, and I will join in…others too, here we go then. la la la la…. ok Infidel your turn!
LMAO…Sach had a gravelly voice….mine however, sounds like 45mi. of washed out, pot holed, twisty, hilly, secondary, backroads ; )

When think’n of Sach, it always brings some of these to mind:
Ella Fitzgerald
Dinah Washington
Duke Ellington
the list goes on..man, what sounds…
I greatly appreciate your doing this, and tip my hat, and bow my head to you. ; )
Many Thanks, KUDOS
Dem, great idea on the Fri gig…good think’n there..KUDOS
You’re welcome, dear.
Aug 4 was the day I lost my father many years ago. He was a trumpet player and lover of jazz. Your sig line made me think of that. It comforts me to imagine that Satchmo was there to greet him at the pearly gates. Your enthusiastic response to my half-assed diary made my day. Thanks.
No Alice, there was nothing half about it whatsoever. It was 100% from the heart, and I’m sure your father and Satch are play’n the sweetest tunes beyond our imagination.
For music, my enthusiasm is always at the top of the list. It is not the person playing or singing, it is the “soul shine” of those individuals.
Keep your father’s music always playing in your heart.
as to add a little Janis to the mix…
reminds me of New Year’s eve 1994 jammin’ as the sun went down over the ocean in Venice beach… What a Wonderful World is right…
Busted flat in Baton Rouge
Waitin’ for a train…
And I’s feelin’ near as faded as my jeans
Bobby thumbed a diesel down,
Just before it rained…
And rode us all the way to New Orleans…
…. and my line, as it were….
Freedom is just another word for Nothin’ Left to Lose…
you can add Janis anytime, ; ) thanks for reminder.
