Getting booed in Philly is embarrassing, but to be expected. Injuring the home-team goalie? Priceless.
ST. LOUIS (AP)—Blues goalie Manny Legace left after one period Friday night with a hip injury that occurred when he slipped on the carpet placed on the ice for Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.
The Alaska governor dropped the ceremonial first puck before the Blues hosted the Los Angeles Kings. A narrow carpet walkway was placed from the gate at the Blues bench to center ice for Palin, her husband and two of her daughters.
Just before the ceremony, Legace was the first player onto the ice for St. Louis. A team official pointed to the carpet. But Legace said the official moved his own foot from the carpet just as Legace stepped down, causing the carpet to slide.
Legace fell, then gingerly made his way to the crease.
After Legace’s mishap, the official rolled up enough of the carpet so other players wouldn’t have to step on it.
Legace described the injury as a strained left hip flexor.
Do you believe in Mojo?
Well, I think blaming Palin for this is a stretch (no pun intended), but as an omen, I’m not sure what it portends. I sure hope it doesn’t mean she wins and causes even greater harm to the country.
If Palin hadn’t been there doing her Hockey Mom routine, the St. Louis Blues would have a healthy goalie. Ergo.
What? There’s a fallacy in there? M’gosh!!
Her mojo just isn’t working for her, is all I’m saying.
But the important stuff I want to know is did they boo her, and did she take her kids with her again?

No charge and it is open to the public, however, tickets are required.
I’d be curious to know if any churches are the sites where tickets can be picked up.
No Steven – tickets can be gotten at the county Republican HQ and the McCain/Palin website.
I am not sure if tickets can be gotten for groups or if there is some kind of vetting process to get a ticket. It is quite possible (probable) churches will provide transportation.
In an earlier version of the article they said she was roundly booed in Philly. I’m so proud of Flyer’s fans!
You’d think this much-hyped “hockey family” could manage to get on the ice without a carpet. Palin missed her last chance to prove she’s competent at something.
Oh yeah – the whole hockey mom thing! Well, as I understand it, her actual hockey mom experience is limited to a year or two when her oldest son played hockey as a little kid.
OK, so the hockey mom thing is not exactly a lie, but it IS rather a large exaggeration, no?
cannot skate, eh?
Does she know what icing is? Offsides? Let’s have a little hockey quiz for Sarah the Big Fat Fake.
Icing? Isn’t that something you put on top of a cake? Offsides – hmmm. Is that when the cat climbs on the counter and licks the icing off the sides, but not the top, of the cake?
strained left hip flexor
That can be a long nagging recovery
