I’m kind of amused to read this White House press release:
President Bush Pleased with Attorney General’s Testimony
President Bush was pleased with the Attorney General’s testimony today. After hours of testimony in which he answered all of the Senators’ questions and provided thousands of pages of documents, he again showed that nothing improper occurred. He admitted the matter could have been handled much better, and he apologized for the disruption to the lives of the U.S. Attorneys involved, as well as for the lack of clarity in his initial responses.
The Attorney General has the full confidence of the President, and he appreciates the work he is doing at the Department of Justice to help keep our citizens safe from terrorists, our children safe from predators, our government safe from corruption, and our streets free from gang violence.
It’s gotten to the point where the President is making Republicans eat shit. Maybe we can impeach him soon.
abu’s going nowhere, as evidenced by the wh statement…probably prepared in advance.
he’s another box of rocks ideologue in the stone wall they’ve erected around BushCo™ to enable them to ride it out until jan 09.
the only way things are going to change is through the impeachment of the whole sorry bunch….and neither the d’s nor the r’s have the spine for it.

The story of the VT murderer shows what happens when a system overlooks very clear and meaningful warning signs. Is the same thing happening in this country when it comes to competent and stable leadership at the highest levels of the executive branch??
I shudder to think of how we will finally see that to be REALLY so!
One word: Iran.
One interpretation:
Bush allows the wolfpack to vent their frustration with the administration by mangling Abu G., so that he then can show imperial clemency by rising to AG’s defense. After which AG then falls on his sword like a good Roman.
Another interpretation:
Bush has a soft spot in his heart for fellow incompetents.
Like particle-versus-wave, I cannot decide which interpretation is correct. Perhaps both.
Perhaps the second interpretation is what’s in Bush’s mind (or “gut”), and the first is how Rove is orchestrating things to play out?
You can leave the flowers in the Rubin Vase.
It seems that if the head Bushie thought that impeachment were a possibility, he would toss Gonzales out but it has become increasingly obvious that it does him no good to remove him short of impeachment. Why?
Personally, I don’t see how this could ever lead to GWB impeachment by itself but continuing to subpoena documents, testimony and a battle over ‘executive privilege’ might ultimately lead to obstruction of justice issues.
