But only you can make it happen:
Fax the word to FILIBUSTER instantly to twelve wavering Senators.
Let’s not forget to hit the Senators where we might cynically think they really care – their campaign offices. Additionally, when we call the PACs it doesn’t matter if we’re non-residents!
Joseph I. Lieberman (D- CT), (860) 244-2006
Thomas R. Carper (D- DE), (302) 328-5774
Evan Bayh (D- IN), 202-326-0450
Robert Menendez (D-NJ), 201-271-1161
Joseph R. Biden, Jr. (D- DE) , 202-547-2221
Call the Democrats (Mary Landrieu, Ken Salazar, Barack Obama, Tom Harkin) who oppose Alito but also said they oppose a filibuster. We must persuade them that a vote against Alito is meaningless if they don’t support a filibuster.
Senator Salazar (D-CO) 202-224-5852
Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) 202-224-5824 (If you’re having trouble getting through a Washington number, you can look up a Senator’s local numbers and fax here: http://capwiz.com/pdamerica/dbq/officials/?lvl=C)
Senator Barack Obama Phone: 202-224-2854 District Offices: Chicago: 312-886-3506 Marion: 618-997-2402 Springfield: 217-492-5089
Senator Tom Harkin Phone: 202-224-3254 District Offices: Des Moines: 515-284-4574 Cedar Rapids: 319-365-4504 Davenport: 563-322-1338 Dubuque: 563-582-2130 Sioux City: 712-252-1550
Call your own Democratic Senator: 888-355-3588 or 888-818-6641. If you can’t get through, look up the Senator’s District Office number and fax here: http://capwiz.com/pdamerica/dbq/officials/?lvl=C
Unbelievably, three Democrats (Ben Nelson, Tim Johnson and Robert Byrd) support Alito! Tell them to either support filibuster or at least “don’t get in the way.” Sen. Ben Nelson (D-NE) 202-224-6551 Sen. Robert Byrd (D-WV) 202-224-3954 Sen. Tim Johnson (D-SD) 202-224-5842
888-355-3588 or 888-818-6641. If you can’t get through, look up the Senator’s District Office number in your phone book or here: http://capwiz.com/pdamerica/dbq/officials/?lvl=C
Call the “Red State” Democrats: (Message same as above — “No” is meaningless) Tom Carper (DE)
Kent Conrad (ND)
Byron Dorgan (ND)
Mark Pryor (AR)
Call these “Blue State” and pro-choice Republicans: (Message: A “Unitary Executive” is dangerous to balance of powers–please do not get in the way of a filibuster.) Lincoln Chafee (RI)
Susan Collins (ME)
Lisa Murkowsky (AK)
Gordon Smith (OR)
Olympia Snowe (ME)
Ted Stevens (AK)
Blanche Lincoln (AR)
CALL: 888-355-3588 or 888-818-6641.
If you can’t get through, look up the Senator’s local Office number and fax here: http://capwiz.com/pdamerica/dbq/officials/?lvl=C
For extra credit, call all of the 2008 Presidential candidates who are sitting Senators–Evan Bayh, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, Russ Feingold, and John Kerry–and tell them to either LEAD THE FILIBUSTER or KISS YOUR SUPPORT GOODBYE. 888-355-3588 or 888-818-6641. If you can’t get through, look up the Senator’s District Office number in your phone book or here: http://capwiz.com/pdamerica/dbq/officials/?lvl=C
You can also send that message to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (202-224-2447) and the Democratic National Committee (202-863-8000).
Polls and public opinion are another way to apply pressure — get word out about why Alito needs to be filibustered:
Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper. (Click here)
People for the American Way has collected nearly 65,000 signatures to send to the Senate, please add yours: Save the Court Petition
John Kerry has endorsed this anti-Alito petition, signers’ names will be read into the Congressional Record:http://www.johnkerry.com/…

It sounds like Salazar may be changing his mind as well!
Just called his office — busy — the lines must be jammed. I’ll try again in a few.
If lines are busy, call their local offices (either of the contacts above will give you local numbers!)
and voicemail is full. I’ve called him every day for two weeks now, and this is the first that has happened.
Let him hear it! Keep dialing!
Lines jammed @ 2:30

Wow! When did Feinstein come on board the filitrain?
Her phones were busy all day yesterday.
Thank you, Janet, Cedwyn & everyone else here involved in fighting this nomination.
I’ve been emailing folks with a list of her office numbers:
(202) 224-3841—Washington
(415) 393-0707—San Francisco
(310) 914-7300—L.A.
(619) 231-9712—San Diego
(559) 485-7430—Fresno
that Cindy Sheehan “threatened” Feinstein, by saying that if DiFi didn’t support the filibuster, she (Sheehan) would challenge her for her Senate seat…now there’s a candidate I could work for…
well, frell…i must be blind. i checked for filibuster diaries and didn’t even see this one. oh well.
I’ll be telling Sen Clinton a few things tonight
she’s on board – you going to the speech thingie?
I’m not going inside. I’ll be on the outside at 7:30 you going to be there??
I’ll keep my peepers open for ya.
So who advises the Senators?
Send a message to the the DNC, the DSCC, and the DLC.
Mine was: Senate Democrats MUST FILIBUSTER the Alito vote – it is time to TAKE A STAND – I will NOT GIVE my money, time, or energy to any senate Democrat who does not FILIBUSTER!
(My state’s senators are Republicans so I could not mention my vote. Maybe they will listen to my wallet – money talks – right?
Give Senator Akaka (D-HI) a call, his voicemail hasn’t been filled up yet.
Urge him to reconsider, and support the filibuster!!! Thank him for his no vote, but explain that it basically amounts to a ‘Yes’, unless he stops the nomination
Number: (202) 224-6361
I just e-mailed about a dozen senators. Man, this could swing the new cycle our way, finally. I hope that we do something with it, if we get it.
Is it too late to organize a general strike for the day after the SOTU?
According to his Friday press release, U.S. Sen. Kohl: Kohl To Listen To Concerns About Medicare Drug Benefit At Monday Roundtable In Milwaukee, issued after Frist’s announcement of the schedule, Herb will be hosting a Milwaukee event on Medicaid Part D. If this holds, he’s effectively a vote against cloture.
Thanks, Ben. I hope it holds.
You have never given up and been our “cheerleader” in this fight. Screw those that call your posts ‘spam”! You have spurred me on to do all I can to make my voice heard. I am not hesitating to tell my senators Boxer andespecially DiFi that a vote aginst the filibuster is a vote against themselves.
I’ve been making calls to my two senators (Clinton and Schumer) but I’ve only found one local office for Schumer that still had room in its voicemail to leave a message.
God I’m so proud of everybody calling and emailing and faxing…..and now all the mailboxes are full up! So the public just isn’t that concerned about Alito huh? A small majority thinks that he should be confirmed? How much does the general person know about Alito and didn’t a small majority polled say that he should not be confirmed if he overturns Roe? Does the general public understand that when Specter says that he can rein Alito in he is totally talking shit? Specter is elected to his job and Alito is appointed for life……get a fucking clue Arlen! Full mailboxes though! Take it back you media whores and aides who proclaimed that people weren’t that concerned about Alito! Take it back and take it back right now!
Yea, I heard that later on. Didn’t she once threaten Clinton w/ something similar? Course she doesn’t have to move to run in CA.
I would so love to have the opportunity to vote for her — even w/ Di Fi on board the filitrain. Pity we’ll likely never have the chance.
