Hello again painting fans.
This week I will be starting a new painting. It is a scene in Cape May, New Jersey. The photo that I’m using is seen directly below. I’ll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 8×10 inch canvas.
I started with a pencil grid on both a print of the photo and the canvas. In this way I was able to transfer the elements to the canvas in an accurate pencil sketch. I am pleased with it so far. Things are off to a good start.
The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.
I’ll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.
Earlier paintings in this series can be seen here.
Open it is.
That one is going to have an intense amount of detail and given the apparent time of day the photo must have been taken, a considerable amount of work getting the shadowing to look realistic. Will be curious to see how this one progresses.
Been working on it. It’s actually not too bad.
May just be my imagination, but it seems like you have been choosing more challenging subjects for your paintings over the last year or so. It’s been fun to watch that long-term progression as well.
