John Negroponte won overwhelming approval by the Senate Thursday to become the nation’s first national intelligence director, a job created last year to better coordinate the nation’s spy agencies following the Sept. 11 attacks and other intelligence blunders.
Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, joined Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., in opposing the nomination.

Americans can be confident that Mr. Negroponte will perform his duties with the same thoroughness and expertise enjoyed by the people of Honduras and more recently, Iraq.
I realize that this is a link I have posted before:
Anti-Terrorism Safety Checklist: How to Stay Safer
but I would strongly urge anyone who has not read it to do so, take it to heart, and if you have read it, read it again, and visit this site for updates on the little New York girls recently seized by US gunmen.
Sigh.
I kinda thought it was a done deal when I wrote a big expose-type diary on Kos and it got just a few comments…. I guess we have to pick our battles, and we’re saving our ammo for the judges?
Thank goodness Bolton made himself easy pickin’s. Hope we can win that one too.
And, thanks for the report, Duct-y (I never know what to CALL YOU! What woudl you like us to call you?)
now. It is not likely that Mr. Negroponte will require the services of any.
People call me all kinds of abbreviations, I don’t have a favorite, whichever one is easiest to type 😉
And my heart is sad. My country has lost all pretense of holding the higher ground. Hey, all we had was pretense and it’s tattered now, shredded and flapping in the wind for all to see.
I heard this on the news on the way home last night-had to pull over and think. Or grieve maybe. This is beyond bad, beyond shameless.
John “Death Squad” Negroponte. I repeat this whenever an opportunity arises. Bolton is unhinged, but Negroponte has a documented history of death and denial of his involvement.
for heads up on the enemy of the state site. I urge others to check out the link as it may come in handy for any of us, now or in the future, with the way that things are going in this country.
