The mission:

U.S. President George W. Bush said Rice’s mission was to “work with Israel and Lebanon to come up with an acceptable U.N. Security Council resolution that we can table next week”.

The Headline:

Diplomacy stalls as Lebanon tells Rice not to come

That’s right.  The second round of “peace talks” haven’t even begun and it is over.  Finito!  Kaput!  It’s only Condi and Israel now.  Is this a possible record for a Secretary of State failing in the quickest amount of time?  Can this administration’s blunders get any lower than this?

Rice and Siniora in happier times, when the deaths were a couple of hundred fewer than they are now.
This is where a leadership vacuum and blind support for Israel gets you:

LEBANON told US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice today it could not meet with her before a ceasefire ends a 19-day-old Israeli offensive.

Lebanese officials said Dr Rice, who was due in Beirut later in the day, was told of the Lebanese position after an Israeli air strike killed at least 51 civilians in southern Lebanon.
They said Dr Rice’s visit to Beirut had been cancelled.

Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Siniora denounced the deadly raids as a “war crime”, vowing there was no place for talks until Israel ceased its attacks.

So, we are, in fact, in a position worse than where we were when this whole crisis began 3 weeks ago.

I’m so glad that this illusionary Doug Henning style “Managed Calm” has been thrown out the window!

Now we can look forward to death, death and more death.

Congratulations, nutjobs!!

Rapture on, good buddies!!!
