Saying that he was “very sorry for all the trouble”, Karl Rove tendered his resignation today. He stated that “Well, the dishes have been piling up, and, well, my wife said I needed to do them”. He indicated that his resignation would be immediately tendered (on 4/1) and would be effective immediately.
He also indicated that the resignation was tendered under an unusual arrangement, in which Bush would immediately pardon him for all future prosecutions in which Mr. Rove might or might not be prosecuted. Bush denied that the pardon was based on a popular board game.
