Does the Dutch have the courage to admit its mistake, apologize and give compensations? The answer will come through the verdict of The Hague Court, which is scheduled to be passed in the morning local time. For information, there has not been a single Dutch institution passing a verdict over a lawsuit regarding Dutch colonialism in Indonesia.

The Rawagede lawsuit was filed by eight widows of Rawagede tragedy’s victims, the survivor Saih bin Sakam who passed away on May 7, 2011 as well as the committee for Dutch honor debts (KUKB).

Other requests of the plaintiff is the Dutch government to admit the crime they committed in Rawagede and give compensation to the victims. The plaintiff was accompanied by a Dutch lawyer, Liesbeth Zegveld.

The Dutch government acknowledged a war crime did take place then. The last survivor died last May.
