Fourteen years after the conclusion of the l’affaire Lewinsky scandal, it is interesting to see Kenneth Starr sticking his neck out to call for leniency for a schoolteacher who molested multiple 12 and 14 year-old girls in his care. Mr. Starr, along with a who’s who of Republican power-players, thinks that community service should suffice as a penalty, rather than a 43-year prison sentence.
This reminds me of the Scooter Libby scandal, where Establishment types lined up to call for leniency when they would never do that for a street-corner drug dealer or anyone unknown to them.
It also reminds me of the people who defended Penn State and Joe Paterno.
When you molest 12 year-olds, you cause lifelong damage. Where is the concern about that?
