After FBI Director Comey really stepped in it last week by sending Congress a cryptic letter about emails that may or may not be pertinent to the earlier investigation that had cleared Clinton, we now get this missive from Comey: “My bad.”
FBI Director James Comey told Congress on Sunday a recent review of newly discovered emails did not change the agency’s conclusion reached in July that no charges were warranted in the case of Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server.
U.S. Republican Representative Jason Chaffetz said in a tweet that Comey had informed him of the conclusion.
The damage is probably done, but Comey did a heck of a job. We’ll see how this plays out in the news cycles over the next 24 to 48 hours, and if this has any even minimal effect on voter behavior (I’m especially concerned about what might be happening down ballot).
