Welcome back!

This week we are continuing with the Victorian home that was the subject of the previous diary.  (Seen directly below.)  The painting was at the stage seen in the second photo below the  at the close of last week’s installment.

This week it’s about refinemment.  I’ve attempted to refine the shapes of the different elements and details of the structure.  The windows needed to be narrowed and porch arches shaped.  Also the shrubs in front are somewhat refined compared to last week.  (See the photo below.)  I’m still not done wiht this phase.

I’ve been using larger brushes because I don’t want this relatively large canvas to become too fussy with tiny details.  Otherwise, such details would detract from the final painting.  What might work in a photograph would be inappropriate here.  Here, some details will only be hinted at.

It’s a little bit difficult because similar paintings I’ve done previously had a number of fine details.  They probably should have had less.  I’m trying to keep this one relaxed and not too refined.

I’ll keep at it until next week.  See you then.
