Hopefully, these are all people who want to kick Joementum off his Senatorial throne, but there’s no way to be certain:
A line ran out the door at the registrar’s office this morning at Westport Town Hall.
A few of them were there to register for the first time to vote in Tuesday’s Democratic primary, but most wanted to change their affiliation from unaffiliated to Democrat.
The deadline to register for Tuesday’s primary was today at noon, and Democratic Registrar of Voters Nita Cohen said 79 people visited her office either to register for the first time or change their affiliation. […]
Of the people who visited her office in the three hours before the deadline today, she said, 61 were changing from unaffiliated status to Democrat.
Eighteen new voters registered, she said, and of them 15 chose to be Democrats.
One thing we know for sure: these aren’t Republicans rushing to save Joe’s tush. They had to change their party affiliation to Democratic by early May in order to vote for Lieberman in the August primary. No, these are all newcomers, folks who have never voted in a Dem or Repub primary before.
Which candidate will benefit from their sudden decision to renounce their independent status? Will they be the calvary, riding to the rescue of a besieged Ft. Lieberman, or will they join that band of savage and angry barbarians, shooting their flaming arrows at the Fortress of Centritude as part of the crazed, lefty tribe commanded by Chief Ned Lamont?
We’ll know soon enough.
