The American-Arab Anti Discrimination Committee or ADC is a grassroots civil rights organization, which welcomes people of all backgrounds, faiths and ethnicities as members. The ADC was founded in Washington, DC by U.S. Senator Jim Abourezk in 1980. Advisory Board members include: Muhammad Ali, Her Majesty Queen Noor, several U.S. Congressmen, & Casey Kasem among many others. ADC has members in all 50 states and it is the largest Arab American organization of its kind
June 8-10 is the 2007 ADC Annual National Convention, “Toward a More Perfect Union”
The Convention will dovetail with the End the Occupation rally in Washington, DC, which begins on June 10 and calls for an end to the 40 year Israel occupation of the Palestinian people and their lands.
The ADC Convention will take place at the Omni Shoreham Hotel located at: 2500 Calvert Street NW, Washington, DC 20008. On Monday, June 11, ADC will be holding a lobby day to advocate for domestic and foreign policy issues.

Gov. Howard Dean Featured Speaker at ADC Convention
Washington D.C. | February 5, 2007 | The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) welcomes Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairman Howard Dean as a featured speaker at ADC’s Annual National Convention. Governor Dean is confirmed to speak at the Friday, June 8 evening program.
As the 2008 campaign for the 44th President of the USA starts to gather momentum, ADC looks forward to hearing from Gov. Dean on his vision for the future, as part of ADC’s bipartisan outreach efforts. In the last few elections Arab Americans have been making a difference in key swing states, running for office and reaching out to their government leaders. We anticipate that Arab Americans will be more involved than ever before.
As Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, Gov. Howard Dean is making the Democratic Party competitive in every race, in every district, in every state and territory, while integrating national and state party operations and standing up for Democrats’ core values. Sen. Chuck Hagel featured speaker at ADC Convention
Washington, DC | February 28, 2007 | The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) welcomes Senator Chuck Hagel (R-NE) as a featured luncheon speaker on Friday, June 8, at ADC’s Annual National Convention. The Convention, “Toward a More Perfect Union,” will continue the legacy of the largest annual gathering of Arab Americans in our nation’s capital.
Additionally, from 2-6 pm on Sunday, June 10, ADC will join a rally and march marking the 40th Anniversary of the 1967 Israeli occupation being organized by United for Peace and Justice and the US Campaign to End the Occupation. The Rally will take place on the Capitol lawn in front of the reflecting pool and the march will commence at 4 pm and will proceed to the White House Ellipse.
Also, on Monday, June 11, ADC will join these groups in holding a lobby day. ADC and these groups will advocate for a fair and balanced US policy toward the Middle East and an end to the occupation of Palestinian lands. ADC will also advocate for domestic legislative agendas that directly affect the Arab-American community including guarantees of due process for non-citizens in comprehensive immigration reform, Senate oversight hearings on the National Security Entry-Exit System (NSEERS), and passage of racial profiling, hate crimes and law enforcement integrity acts during the 110th Congress.
House Judiciary Chair John Conyers to Address ADC Convention
Washington DC | May 10, 2007 | www.adc.org | The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) is proud to announce that Congressman John Conyers, Jr. (D-MI), Chairman of the U.S. House Committee on the Judiciary, will address the ADC Convention during the Saturday, June 9 Gala Dinner Banquet, from 7:30-10:30 pm. The Annual National Convention will take place at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC, June 8 to 10.
Congressman Conyers has served 21 terms in the US Congress. This January, the congressman took over the Chairmanship of the House Committee on the Judiciary. As Chairman, Conyers has introduced and endorsed legislation to advance civil liberties, ensure equal protection and access to the voting booth, and combat violence against women. Since September 11, 2001, he has worked to strike a balance between keeping our country safe from terrorism while protecting civil liberties.
ADC works extensively with Congressman Conyers and his staff on legislation important to the Arab-American community such as the End Racial Profiling Act, and the Hate Crimes Prevention Act. Mr. Conyers is the principle author of the End Racial Profiling Act; if passed, this legislation would ensure that the rights of all Americans are protected by banning racial profiling nationwide and by requiring all federal, state and local law enforcement agencies to take administrative steps to eliminate the practice. ADC worked with Congressman Conyers to ensure that in a post-9/11 environment, the definition of racial profiling included perception of national origin and religion.
Already this year, the congressman has scored an early victory for civil rights by getting his Hate Crimes Prevention Act passed in the House of Representatives. ADC worked in coalition with national civil rights, disability, gay/lesbian, and religious organizations to support passage of this important civil rights legislation. The hate crimes bill would provide increased protection for all Americans, including Arab-Americans, from being the victims of hate crimes by placing a wide range of hate crimes under federal jurisdiction. This would allow for enhanced support by the Federal government of local investigation and prosecution.
Given Israel’s latest propaganda effort to falsely cast Palestinians as “terrorists” rather than a people occupied for 40 years by Israel’s military forces, if you are able, attend the End the Occupation rally, which follows the Convention.
