Though I could not caution all, I still might warn a few;
Don’t lend your hand to raise no flag atop no ship of fools.
That is my advice to the people who still support this administration. Patiotism is the last recourse for the scoundrel…or something like that. And we are being led by scoundrels.
The President was caught red-handed spying on Americans without any judicial oversight. His response? He is only spying on suspected terrorists that call into or out of the United States. But, now we know that is a lie.
The administration revealed the identity of a non-official cover CIA officer specializing in non-proliferation issues. Their response? She wasn’t a covert officer and they have no idea who leaked her name. We now know that was a lie.
This administration told us that the intelligence community thought that Iraq was seeking uranium from Niger. We now know that was a lie.
Dick Cheney told us that Mohammed Atta met with an Iraqi intelligence officer in Prague. We now know that was a lie.
The President told us that he didn’t want to go to war except as a last resort. We now know that was a lie.
This administration has no credibility left. The Vice-President has obstructed justice in a three year investigation. His former chief-of-staff is on trial. The Secretary of State, in charge of international diplomacy, has been caught red-handed lying about the intelligence used to justify the war in Iraq. Stephen Hadley, the national security officer, is probably going to be indicted for perjury and obstruction of justice. Karl Rove, the President’s defuty chief of staff is probably going to be indicted for perjury and obstruction of justice.
In Congress, Tom DeLay has been indicted and will resign his seat. Bill Frist is under investigation for insider trading. And up to a dozen Congressional Republicans face the prospect of corruption charges.
And what do we have to show for all this criminality? A catastrophe on 9/11 and in New Orleans. A military, moral, and financial disaster in Iraq. And a wrecked budget. Meanwhile, the administration attempts to whittle away at the most basic of civil rights, while asserting its right to disregard pretty much anything Congress says, thinks, or directs.
If we cannot impeach Bush and Cheney for this record, then there is no reason to have a provision for impeachment in the Constitution.
