GOP Pie Fight: "Scowcroft Hates Democracy!"

[From the diaries by susanhu.]

Charles Krauthammer, for the second week in a row, has turned his dripping venom against another Republican. This time, he has turned his fangs against former Bush I National Security Advisor Brent Scowcroft.

Krauthammer knows very well that the GOP is in tatters from the recent run of bad news. So, he is now on a self-righteous crusade to restore order by whipping reluctant Republicans back in line with the same kind of venom that right-wingers so often use on Democrats. However, Krauthammer is not without his venom towards the left. First, he takes a cheap shot towards Cindy Sheehan:

Now that Cindy Sheehan turns out to be a disaster for the antiwar movement — most Americans are not about to follow a left-wing radical who insists that we are in Iraq for reasons of theft, oppression and empire — a new spokesman is needed. If I were in the opposition camp, I would want a deeply patriotic, highly intelligent, distinguished establishment figure. I would want Brent Scowcroft. … Continued below:

Bush’s Weakest Week: Now Dismantle His Strongest Link

The run-up to Halloween 2005 is proving to be George W. Bush’s weakest week since he assumed office in January 2001.  This week marks the death of the 2000th American in the Iraq War quagmire, Harriet Miers’ withdrawal from Supreme Court consideration, scandalous earnings reports by Bush’s Big Oil buddies, and the indictment of Dick Cheney’s chief of staff, Lewis Libby, in the CIA leak scandal.  Is this the beginning of the end for Bush’s strongest link, the radical right coalition of religious heads, talking heads, and GOP Party heads?

We the People, in order to form a more perfect union…

Welcome to the campaign blog for Dave Bruderly for Congress. Dave has an outstanding website about himself and his campaign. Please take a look at it! I have great faith in Dave’s belief that the Florida Sixth District, along with every other Congressional district in the country, needs a new voice. Less than 30 percent of Americans are happy with the way Congress is running the country, clearly, it is time for a change.

I believe Dave will help provide that change.

This blog will be a frequently updated outlet for readers to learn more about the campaign from the guy who will set the day-to-day course of the campaign. Until Dave is sick of me, I will be helping him guide our effort to unseat the incumbent, Cliff Stearns, and I will describe that effort here.

I’ll also throw in a few of my own observations. This first post will be a manifesto of sorts, hopefully defining why I am working for this campaign, rather than as the reporter I trained for a decade to become.

I asked my younger cousin, in Jacksonville, who he was voting for in 2004 and he said, “Bush, because I hate Democrats.”

I was pretty sure he didn’t hate me, but that incident clarified what I had known for a while. Something MUST be done to make people realize our government is not about parties, it is about people. Dave is going to be a new voice, but the more important promise is that he will represent REAL people.
