It means Obamacare will be fully implemented in 2014.

It means the Afghanistan War will end in 2014.

It means Dodd-Frank won’t be repealed.

It means Pres. Obama and the Democratic Party will get the lion’s share of credit for the ongoing recovery from the Great Recession.

It means everything else that Barack Obama accomplished legislatively in his first term will have time to become “the new normal”.

Newly re-elected presidents inevitably disappoint their supporters in some major ways during their second term, and they rarely can’t point to achievements as significant or numerous as those in their first term.  But because Obama had such a hugely consequential first term, and because some of his major victories were structured to take effect gradually, the “hope and change” he campaigned on in 2008 will continue into the next four years.
