Well, I discover that Dick Cheney ISN’T dead or hiding in an undisclosed location until the heat dies down. No, the Dick is coming to New Jersey and New York to help raise money for Doug Forrester and Vito Fossella.
I want to pass on some suggestions for how those of us who live in the area can respond to Dick’s little visit.
The Dick will be in New Jersey first. The New Jersey Democrats are planning a “warm” welcome and I hope some local Kossacks can join in:

When: Friday, July 22nd at 4PMJoin us to protest Dick Cheney’s fundraising frolic in the state of NJ!
All participants MUST meet in the PARKING LOT at the corner of Village Boulevard and College Road West. It is directly off of Rte 1 and easily accessible.

Directions:
Take College Road West from Route 1 South or North, past the entrance to Forrestal Village
(Travel on College Blvd for about .5 mi)
Then make a left onto Village Boulevard (you will pass the Westin and commercial shops on your left, and then continue past a few residential developments on your right before you get to Village Boulevard)
The parking lot will be on your immediate left. We plan to set up there, and then walk over to the site of the event. It is about a 3 minute walk.

Then on to Staten Island. Working Families Party and other progressive groups are planning to welcome the Dick to Staten Island when he comes to help out NYC’s token Republican:
Dick Cheney is coming to Staten Island to help Vito Fossella raise money. This is our chance to show Dick what we think of him. Come protest in front of Vito Fossella’s office.

I also recommend donating to the Staten Island Young Democrats as a way of welcoming Dick Cheney and to help defeat Vito Fossella in 2006. We need to make Staten Island just a touch more blue!
